I have a feeling the accuweather site is not at all close to correct for Baja California. If you look at it, it indicates the weather in San Quintin and Bahia Asuncion for most of July has been much warmer than it was in Cabo San Lucas.
Is Cabo in fact cooler than areas north of it, due to being at the end of the peninsula or is accuweather just plain wrong. Here are links to the 3 cities forecasts from Accuweather - San Lucas July Weather 2013 - AccuWeather Forecast for Baja California Sur Mexico San Quintin July Weather 2013 - AccuWeather Forecast for Baja California Mexico Bahia Asuncion July Weather 2013 - AccuWeather Forecast for Baja California Sur Mexico |

Try weather Underground:.
WunderMap | Interactive Weather Map and Radar | Weather Underground Position it on Baja and zoom in. Plenty of private weather stations reporting from Baja Here is one example: Weather History for Weather Station IBAJANOR1 | Weather Underground Last edited by Teniente; 07-26-13 at 09:25 PM. |

Weather Underground's forecast for La Paz is fine during the day but ALWAYS wrong if you look in the evening. For example, today's high was 104 according to their own site, and earlier forecast was around 100 for tomorrow, but this evening it's showing 88-90 highs for the rest of the week. Ain't gonna happen, and if you look tomorrow morning, the forecast temps will be back up.**** They must be switching to an unreliable weather station during evening hours. Or something.
I may try Accuweather for a while. **** This morning, as usual, forecast for the next few days is highs of 100-104º Last edited by kate; 07-27-13 at 06:18 AM. Reason: Add morning forecast |

Weather Underground stations are owned/operated by private individuals with their own equipment. It's possible that the station has faulty equipment or the operator hits the bottle at night.
I use several sources and generally average them out. You learn quickly which sources are dependable and which are not.....however it is Mexico and YMMV Mexico station list: Weather Stations | Weather Underground |

Interesting ... I knew WU used private weather stations and where to get the list, but I have it set to use the one at the airport. Doesn't help at night, however, and possibly they switch it over before the airport closes. The problem never occurred before they "upgraded" WU a year or two ago. Also, it's no longer possible to see Fahrenheit and Centigrade temps at the same time, which was one of my favorite features of the old site. Using one or the other is easy, but it's making the conversion that is difficult for me. Accuweather has the same problem. Oh well ... ![]() |

Kate
You mention that the WU station is at the airport. I have found that airport weather stations/reports sometimes are way off from actual or norm readings. This has to do with the vast amounts of concrete, asphalt and dirt.......these substances reflect and retain heat (or cold) that can affecr correct readings. Or you could buy a the equipment and be "our" weather station!!!!! |

Our airport is in the middle of the desert and has a single runway.
![]() I like the idea of having my own weather station, but somebody else would have to buy it. ![]() |

Find a suitable medium to large rock, place it outside your window, check it several times a day......... If the rock is wet, it's raining. If the rock is swinging, the wind is blowing. If the rock casts a shadow, the sun is shining. If the rock does not cast a shadow and is not wet, the sky is cloudy. If the rock is not visible, it is foggy. If the rock is white, it is snowing. If the rock is coated with ice, there is a frost. If the ice is thick, it's a heavy frost. If the rock is bouncing, there is an earthquake. If the rock is under water, there is a flood. If the rock is warm, it is sunny. If the rock is missing, there was a tornado. If the rock is wet and swinging violently, there is a hurricane. If the rock has white splats on it, watch out for birds. |

Well, at your place, it's definitely not the asphalt!!
![]() I like Teniente's "weather rock" idea. Maybe the birds would use it instead of my pool. |

In my experience, it's not nearly as hot in Cabo in the summer as it is in La Paz, but I spend one or two weeks alternating per year at each location so really don't spend enough time to know.
Others have told me that Cabo stays cooler than the rest of Baja Sur but again, I really dont know. Does it seem plausible that summers are hotter in Bahia Asuncion than they are in Cabo San Lucas? Accuweather seems to indicate so, but I doubt the accuracy of their baja stations. -Roger |
