Default Hummingbird Feeders Baja

Does anyone in Baja Ca or Baja Sur have a hummingbird feeder on their property? If so it sure would be great if you could setup a camera and snap a few pics from time to time, then post them here. I'm wondering what the most common Hummingbirds are down in Baja (Norte) and in particular Baja Ca Sur.

I know at some point they have Xantu's Hummingbirds down there, but I think that might be south of Loreto etc.

Would be nice to see what's common in the various areas.

In San Diego we get almost 100% Anna's Hummingbirds, with a few Allens/Rufous, Costa's are fairly common, and a few black-chinned. Others are pretty rare, and out of 100 random hummingbirds probably 95+ would be Anna's.

Something else on my list for moving - new hummingbird feeders. Mine broke, and there are some nice ones on eBay.

whatever is in that feeder- it's working! I thought red feeders attracted more birds. I was wrong obviously.

I think it's more the location that the feeder is in, than the color. I have new feeders on my shopping list, since the place that I'm moving into has somewhere for me to put several feeders.

Good one

We have 4 feeders and they're all equally busy.
One cup of sugar to a quart of water.

Doer anyone have a problem with the Mexican Oriels draining their feeders. We like them and enjoy watching then but they can do a number on the feeder. Its really fun to watch the little guy that guards the feeder to try to run the Oriels away from the feeder.

We only use feeders that have no place for birds to sit. And make them free hanging, away from any place for larger birds to sit and reach the feeder.
Orioles are the main ones to keep away, but we also have woodpeckers that try to feed on the nectar. Usually unsuccessfully.

Some of the time the Orioles can be a pain but they have to eat too. We have a huge Sea gull that that's been here for over 10 years everyone in the neighborhood feeds it I call it Heathcliff its better than a garbage disposal it eats anything.
When we lived in Missouri we had 3 species of Wood Peckers those guys can be destructive.

Man that's what I was hoping for! What a beautiful shot of birds we never see in San Diego. Several Xantu's in that scene. I wonder how far north the Xantu's are actually found? Would be interesting if someone from San Quintin or southern Baja California (Norte) would put one out and take some photos of what shows up there! HINT HINT

I've been fortunate enough to have witnessed Edinpolo's hummingbird feeders first hand. It's even more impressive in person. There's so many, they will sit on your silverware handle (with it in your hand) waiting for their turn!

Barb's job. Once to twice a day.
We do go through a lot of sugar, since we have 4 of these heliports.

Have just one outside my "slider" love the little guys... "jets" with little noise ... real talkers

leave slider open so Bear can come in and go out ... the little guys come up to the edge of my room and look in at me ... some kind of animal behavior ... a bit slow when getting to feel comfortable around ya, but, if they like ya ... they like ya ...

A few days ago, while sitting on the back porch, one of those little guys almost pecked me on the nose.
Was a signal that the feeder was empty. They have several ways of bringing that to your attention. Clever critters.
