Default Neighborhood names for Ensenada

Hi everyone...thanx for the input on areas to rent, we took the advice to avoid Maneadero, and found that we really like Ensenada itself. We spent 6 days looking around last week, but there are SO many places, so many neighborhoods....

That was a problem trying to find places (besides all the streets with no street sign names), most places listed an area, like Bahia or Chapultepec, but for example we called on a house in Ojos Negros, not knowing it was not in the city...which leads to my question.

Can anyone tell me the neighborhood names that are in the city? We plan to return in 3 or 4 weeks, hopefully for longer so we can find something. Even if we can find a one or two month rental so that we're there and then can take our time looking. The lucky thing is hubby is Mexican so he can make all the calls, course I hate not being in control ha ha!

I did a search on this site and found a couple of good websites to look on so that was good.
thanx all for everything.

If you zoom Google Maps in and out at some point all the names of all the colonias are there to read.

And, there are a lot of Colonias. Add to your confusion what are called Fraccionamientos, what seems to be the more organized neighborhoods, probably those that were pre-planned rather than the result of squatters.
Here's a map:

Thank you both for the hints! We are so excited to move over there, but really want to just find anything for a month or two so we can spend time finding the "right place"....And it's just us and our black lab Sam...

There are some Colonias you won't want to live in. In fact, there are Colonias the police won't even enter after the sun goes down.
Don't make any decisions without references.

Any chance you know the name of any of these neighborhoods?

Go to any 7-11/PEMEX and buy an Ensenada city map. It has all (OK, most) of the Fraccionamientos
listed.

When you find a place or places, let us know where it is.......maybe we can give you a heads-up

I have found that my Garmin 2595 aftermarket GPS list most of the streets in Ensenada. If you buy a GPS, get one that states "Mexico" or "North America".

Like Dennis said they are too many to remember Ensenada is a pretty large City possibly 350,000 or more population. Not withstanding the fact Ensenada County takes in 2/3 of the area of Baja North.

John....fifteen years ago, the sign at the entrance to town behind immigration said the population was over 500,000. I'm guessing over a million today and that's just the city.

According to Wikipedia the 2010 census was 279,000 and a few.

Vista Hermosa is in the N/E section of the city, just N/E of the road to Ojos Negros (Hwy 3)

Chapultepec is an area of many "Chapultepec mini subdivisions" west (ocean side) of Reforma (Hwy 1)......south of the Air Force Base/Airport and ends in the agricultural fields south of the city as you head to Maneadero. Not to be confused with the area called Ex-Ejido Chapultepec, to the east of the Air Force base.

Bahia is an area in town bordered by Reforma on the west, Mexico Ave on the east, Cortez on the north and Diamante on the south.....it's northeast of the McDonalds at Reforma and Diamante.

Unless, of course, you mean Chapultepec Hill, behind Hussongs.

Nothing confusing about this place.

Hey thanx so much!! Actually the house in Chapultepec says "Ej" so it must be the area east of the Air Force base- which we didn't even see when we were there. But I understand where you mean. This is a huge help, and the google maps as well. Should be coming back within the next 2 weeks for our second go round. Again- many thanks!

The first thing you should do when you get here is to buy an Ensenada city map. It really helps
