This banner was hung from the bridge which crosses the highway approaching Playas de Tijuana from TJ. This is the main route to Rosarito Beach and Ensenada from San Ysidro. If people don't think this area can fall into chaos like parts of mainland Mexico, they would be wrong imho. It's here and it's building. When a society can't or won't keep the bad people in jail, they regroup and do this. Run Forrest, Run!
================================================================= "TIJUANA. - A criminal group which named itself "The New United Cartel Group of Tijuana," threatened to murder Municipal Police officers if they capture any of their members or seize their drugs... Other police sources say that a few days ago members of the Arellano Felix Cartel got out of prison, and they decided to regroup with the people who signed the banner as the New Tijuana Cartel." The good news is no bodies were hanging from the bride with it. The bad news is "here we go again"... Run Forrest, Run! ============================================ http://www.el-mexicano.com.mx/inform...s-con-amenazas TIJUANA. - A criminal group which named itself "The New United Cartel Group of Tijuana," threatened to murder Municipal Police officers if they capture any of their members or seize their drugs. The warning was made with a banner hung on the vehicle bridge which connects the highway to Playas de Tijuana with the El Mirador subdivision. Municipal police took down the banner yesterday, around 7:20PM. The message written with black letters was signed by lower-level members of the team: Atlante, Aquiles, Chans, Charro, Chapito, Travi, Javier Beltrán Beltrán. A citizen called the anonymous complaint number 089, and alerted the operators that the people who hung the banner were two men, who were armed and arrived in a SUV. In the matter of the signer named Javier, it is assumed he was murdered a week ago, according to officials from the State Attorney General. A few weeks ago, Abel Galván Gallardo, head of the Attorney General's Organized Crime Unit, reported that Alfonso Lira Sotelo is “El Atlante,” and that some 25% of the murders in Tijuana are linked to a battle he is having with rival street drug dealer gangs. "El Aguiles," is identified as one of the men who at one time was collaborating with the Sinaloa Cartel, when it was headed by Teodoro García Simental, “El Teo”, who was battling the Tijuana Cartel, headed by Fernando Sánchez Arellano, “El Ingeniero”, for the fight for Tijuana and drug smuggling. Other police sources say that a few days ago members of the Arellano Felix Cartel got out of prison, and they decided to regroup with the people who signed the banner as the New Tijuana Cartel. As a result of the threats, municipal police have started to patrol the city in groups, as occurred in 2008 and 2009, when more than 40 police officers were murdered during the so called "drug war" between drug trafficking groups. A few months ago there were also several banners hung in the city, where they asked the state government to stop the state preventative police from extorting money from them. [/quote]
