The Escapees RV Club is one of the largest RV clubs in the U.S.A. with over 50,000 members from all over the United States, Canada, Mexico and other countries. The Club has many chapters and Chapter 8, “The Mexican Connection,” was formed in 1985.

The purpose of Chapter 8 is to:

-- Introduce new Escapees Chapter 8 Mexican Connection members to RV travel in Mexico, its scenery, traditions, food, culture and folklore.

-- Travel south of the border and give back more than the enriching experiences we gain, through charity donations and business patronization.

-- Enable Chapter 8 members to feel comfortable to return to Mexico for future rallies as well as their own road trip adventures.

The Mexican Connection has annual rallies, usually 10-20 days in length, to “some place” in Mexico where it holds its general meetings and election of officers. After the rally, small groups are formed to travel further in Mexico or return to the U.S. Over the years it has had rallies as far south as Mexico City, Veracruz, Guanajuato, El Fuerte/Copper Canyon, Chihuahua, Guaymas, and Puerto Peñasco. On the Baja California peninsula, several rallies have been held in Ensenada, San Felipe and as far as Mulegé.

One of the Chapter’s goals besides learning about Mexico and its great people is to support charities in the area where the rally is held. The members collect funds during the year and at an auction during the rally to help some selected charity organizations.

The 2014 Escapees RV Club Chapter 8 Mexican Connection Rally with 47 RVs and 89 people will be held at Estero Beach RV Resort in Ensenada from February 5-11. Afterwards the rally will head south to the beach near San Quintín. The rally ends after that with some people traveling back to the U.S. and others heading further south in Baja for whale watching, visiting the beaches or exploring the tip of the peninsula in Los Cabos.
