Forget Gregorio Jimenez- he was just found dead.


El periodista mexicano Gregorio Jiménez de la Cruz, que había sido secuestrado por varios desconocidos el pasado miércoles, apareció hoy sin vida, informaron fuentes oficiales. El profesional, que vivía en el estado oriental de Veracruz, cubría información policial para los diarios Notisur y Liberal del Sur.

El procurador de justicia (fiscal) de Veracruz, Amadeo Flores, indicó en una rueda de prensa que el cadáver del periodista fue hallado junto con los cuerpos de otras dos personas en fosas clandestinas en el municipio de Las Choapas. El cuerpo del periodista fue "identificado plenamente" por los dictámenes periciales, apuntó el funcionario, quien agregó que el móvil del crimen fue una "venganza personal".

Mexican journalist Gregorio Jiménez de la Cruz, who had been kidnapped by several unknown persons last Wednesday, was found dead today reported official sources. The professional, who lived in the eastern state of Veracruz, covered police information for the daily newspapers Notisur and Liberal del Sur.

The Veracruz state attorney general, Amadeo Flores, indicated in a press conference that the body of the journalist was found together with the bodies of another two people in clandestine graves in the municipality of Las Choapas. The body of the journalist was clearly identified by the investigators, said the official, who added that the motive for the crime was "personal revenge."

Really sad - we thought this was going to be another "shoot the messenger" event but it looks like now it was a personal feud with a woman paying 20,000 pesos to have him executed.

That's a lot for a hit in Mexico actaully. 2000 pesos is usally enough to get the job done. The neighbor killed in his house near us last year was killed for only 500 pesos- but he was much lower profile.
