Post Category 2 Hurricane Guillermo moves out to sea (AP)


AP - Hurricane Guillermo has strengthened into a Category 2 storm far off Mexico's Pacific coast.

The National Hurricane Center says Guillermo's maximum sustained winds are near 100 mph (160 kph). The hurricane is expected to weaken Saturday as it moves over cooler water.

Late on Friday night, Guillermo was centered about 1,355 miles (2,180 kilometers) west of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula.

It is moving west-northwest at 16 mph (26 kph).
