Default Hello from Kalama,Wa

Just wanted to say hello to everyone on this board. My name is Ralph. I'm 61, retired last year( along with wife Marie) and hoping to spend more time in Baja. I've spent a couple weeks a year in mainland Mexico starting in 1984. LOVE Mexico, it's people, culture and
food. Big fan of Vicente Fernandez, Lucero and mariachi music! Wife and I had hoped to retire in Mexico ...don't know what happened. I guess life just got in the way. Were going to buy a house in Mazatlan and live there year round..but its too darn hot from May thru Sept/Oct! But northern Baja with its cooler climate sounds pretty tempting!! Love the ocean, fishing, laidback lifestyle and just enjoying simple pleasures. Hello and hope all your Baja dreams come true!

You've got it right, Ralph. Pacific side of BC has it all. Just think why the real estate prices are so high in San Diego County. From the border, all the way to San Quintin, you can have basically the same climate for so much less than north of the border.

Hey Ralph,

Methow Valley, Winthrop, Twisp....that's our front yard. Hot and tinder-dry right now. Kinda smoky from wildfires in the Pasayten wilderness...

guess what... I was B&R (born and raised) in Skagit County. Hubby's US roots started on Mercer Island, near Seattle. We left the wet side in 1999 for the dry side.

Your time near Grand Coulee, related to the dam?...

Ann

Ann,

Worked as a radio announcer at KFDR in Grand Coulee and KOFI in Chelan. Those were the days...hopefully I've grown a lot wiser over the years!! I got tired of all the snow and below zero temps in Spokane so we moved to the wetter and milder side of state in 1990. I don't blame for you for liking n. central washington...from Wenatchee north.....it's some pretty country!

When my son lived in San Diego about 7-8 years ago...wife and I planned to buy a house south of Rosarito. When son moved to Texas..that plan fell apart. Came REAL CLOSE to buying in Mazatlan in mid 1990's...when prices where 1/4 of what they are now. Wouldacouldashoulda. I sure love that San Diego weather!! To live in Mexico AND have the same climate would be absolutely wonderful! Just give me a good Mexican beer, mariachi music in the background..and I'd be one happy hombre!!

Come check out south of Ensenada - we really love it here in San Quintin. The weather is absolutely perfect and the fishing is awesome!
