This is a photo that I have posted elsewhere and one which I have received many requests for. The photo was taken moments after a downpour out on the beach west of San Quintin. You can see a double rainbow and if you look closely, it appears that the rainbow touches down on the rocks right below us.

It was even much more dramatic in person...

It was a little chilly that day but not really cold. I was actually in shorts and a T shirt when I took the photo. That island is a very interesting place and I have had the good fortune to be able to spend a lot of time out there as it falls within the fishing concession limits of a close friend who has also been granted a special permit to build a home there in exchange for cleanup of the island. The navy is helping us by hauling out the trash we have picked up and in exchange they fill up our fresh water storage tank out there. It really is quite comfy with a full kitchen , fridge, stove/oven and TV. Diving on the east side of the island is just incredible.

Thanks for the nice compliments. Was using this thread as a test to try out some new features I installed. Looks like this will work out well and make it easier for folks to upload their photos and not have to use the online services like photobucket, flickr, imageshack, etc.

Wow - I didn't think there was clear water diving like that so far north in Baja and so close to shore. San Martin Island is only a few miles off, right?

Yes, the island is only a few miles off and the water on the east side is very clear on calm water days...

I have fished off the southeast end of the island and I do remember that the water was very clear. Lot of seals in the water there and scared off all the fish!

That double rainbow is really a special photo. You were so lucky to see it and capture it so well.

It lasted for several minutes and we were all standing there in awe looking at it. It was a very special moment. No gold was found by the rocks down where it ended. I would have been thrilled with even just a bottle of Cazadores Tequila!
