A local Osprey
Our friend who works for the Preserve here is working on obtaining the money to build some platforms for these guys. Meanwhile, they have to take thier chances on the electric poles and fences. Like the zopolotes, they are amazing birds.
When I looked up the name in Spanish and different name came up, but here they call them AGUILA PESCADOR which I think fits them well. Here are a few I took recently in a few different locations around town. Re: A local Osprey
I have had the opportunity to see these birds up close and they often appear to be just as curious about us...

Re: A local Osprey
What a beautiful and regal creature, I love to hear their cry when they are flying overhead. Thanks for sharing the photos, Connie

Re: A local Osprey
Beautiful Pictures. At our old house we had a large telephone pole at the corner of the lot. One of the local Osprey loved to eat its fish there. The fish carcasses piled up fast and they were always attracting flies. We were constantly cleaning up after it.
Was worth it though, they're so beautiful to watch. It was sometimes comical watching it try to land on the little post top with a big fish. |

Re: A local Osprey
Thanks for the nice words. They are truly wonderful birds---well, some fish might argue that one!
