Much better than misspellings are the malaprops; incorrect words chosen for their phonetic similarity to the correct ones.

Not limited to just words either. Entire phrases can be misappropriated with often-hysterical results.

One of my favorites was a gentleman who regaled us with tales of making love on a remote Baja beach, with "no holds barred."



I'm pretty sure he meant "no holding back."

But we'd have to be much younger to express our vulgar selves so.
