Yes, but they can correctly spell only about 50 of them...

Much better than misspellings are the malaprops; incorrect words chosen for their phonetic similarity to the correct ones.

Not limited to just words either. Entire phrases can be misappropriated with often-hysterical results.

One of my favorites was a gentleman who regaled us with tales of making love on a remote Baja beach, with "no holds barred."



I'm pretty sure he meant "no holding back."

That thought (almost)certainly never crossed my mind, Ed.

But we'd have to be much younger to express our vulgar selves so.

I'm thinking he was waxing philosophical/literary, but had a short-circuit.
