To help you gain the most from our forum, please familiarize yourself with the rules and guidelines below for participating in the message forums.

Please note this list does not include the full terms of service (also known as your user agreement). These rules and guidelines are designed to help give a better understanding of what behavior is expected and make your experience more enjoyable and safe.


Rules (DON'Ts):

1. No discussions allowed that are meant to promote any illegal activity or threats of violence.

2. No use of explicit, obscene or vulgar language or messages, pornographic images and/or racist / hate remarks.

3. No posts that attack, insult, "flame", defame, or abuse members or non-members. Respect other members of the community and don’t belittle, make fun off, or insult another member or non-member. It’s okay to disagree. "Flaming" and insults will not be tolerated.

4. The Far Side Forum is available here where some of these rules may be “relaxed”. Good place to discuss politics/religion/yankees. Play at your own risk. If you find it offensive, don’t go there.

5. No Spam is permitted.
• Spam is defined as posting a link for the purpose of selling, soliciting or promoting a website that is not directly topic related.
• Links to helpful web sites (commercial or otherwise) are allowed when they are posted by active, participating members of the forum AND whose purpose is to contribute to the forum, NOT just to solicit, advertise, promote, fundraise, etc.

6. No links to any web site or use of any username that fits into rules # 1-3 above.

7. No use of multiple usernames. Please register and use only one username for the forums. Posting under multiple user accounts will result in administrative action (banning).

8. No cryptic posts. Using cryptic messages to "skirt" the rules is not permitted.

9. Do not disrespect forum moderators. Be respectful in both the forums and any private communications with moderators. Moderators are volunteers that donate many, many hours of their own time to help in the forums. Violations of this rule will not be tolerated.

10. Please - Avoid SHOUTING. Remember, using ALL CAPITAL LETTERS in posts is considered yelling and rude, plus it is difficult to read.

11. Do not post offline personal contact information (ie. your home address, home phone numbers etc.) in any of the forums. This is to protect your security and identity.

12. No lengthy signatures. Limit signatures to 3 lines or less. Moderators will edit and/or remove signatures that are too long.

13. No legal battles on Forum. If you are involved in a legal dispute with another party, resolve that between yourselves, in court or just let it go - we really don't care. It is okay to report on problems in Baja that may affect people but it is not okay to carry out your legal battles here on the forum to sway public opinion. If arbitration and/or the courts cannot help, we probably will be no more successful.


Guidelines (DO's):

1. Check for open topics. Before posting a new topic, please check to see if there is already a topic open on the subject.

2. Ignore bothersome members. If there is someone on the forum that bothers you, select the Ignore button at the top right corner of the post. You won't see any posts from this member again.

3. Report posts or activities that violate the rules and guidelines by selecting the Admin report button below the post or via a private message. We will act on the report in a timely manner.

4. Use good judgment. Behave here as you would in any public place and treat others the same way that you would like to be treated. It’s called RESPECT.

5. Welcome new members. When newcomers arrive, say "hi" and welcome them. Help new folks "learn the ropes" about how to find information and resources, save time, and how to get involved.


Moderators:

TalkBaja.com is moderated by volunteers that have the right to edit or delete posts without prior notice that violate any of the rules above. They are also responsible for keeping the forum a happy playground and you can spot a moderator because their posts indicate that they are moderators. If a moderator sees that posts are made that hijack a topic into areas that are off topic like politics, they may edit those posts or move them into their proper forum to help keep the thread on topic and to avoid having to lock a popular thread/topic. The job can be a difficult one to manage at times and if you are interested in becoming a moderator, please contact the Admin account. We will review your request along with your posting history with the forum staff.

Users that do not abide by the rules may be subject to having their posts edited or deleted, their member account permanently banned from further access and/or deleted without notice.

Rules and guidelines may change at any time, please re-read them regularly.
