Default La Paz Weather

Clear blue skies....temperature in the shade = 66 at 3:30 PM

The reason for the cloudless sky has got to be the 23.5 knot/30 mph winds we've had the past few days! It's downright blustery out there! The howling woke me around 5:30 & there haven't been any calm spells since!

I normally keep my lounge cushion on the chaise lounge, about 20' from the pool....a few minutes ago I looked out to see it sailing across the surface of my pool....sans sail!! It was fun pulling all that weight out of the pool without letting the wind push me in! And I caught the empty cement bag from adjacent property construction just in time! Those sink fast! I know this from all their bags I had to fish off the bottom over the past year!

Legs, what's your water temp? Mine is a bit below 60F (15C) with the cover on.

Sure was blustery today. Three of my plants blew over, and I had a really bad hair day. But our weather is clear and beautiful. I sure don't envy the folks up north with all the driving rain and flooding. <--- (That's supposed to be the "sad" smiley.)

I don't have thermometer in right now....but I reached below the water this week to get to a jet & it was bone-chilling, so I'm guessing it's colder than yours since mine is uncovered. Bottom line is my temp is damncold F!

True! Wind is easier to cope with than flooding!

We're actually warmer than La Paz? We've had 72 - 74 for the last several days. A bit cooler - 70 today. It was even in the 70's when it was raining. Today was the first fairly calm wind day in quite a while though.

I stayed in most of the day because of the wind, but I think the wind today made it appreciably cooler than it was during the week. The wind here finally died down to a more typical breeze within the past hour.

It's good that you had some rain while you were there....it allows you to see how your land naturally drains & that's good to know before you build to pinpoint areas you may want to change or take special precautions with. But I know you knew that!

It was barely enough rain to make the ground wet. Probably won't even be enough to green up. We've rode out a few fairly close hurricanes with a decent amount of rain though. The only runoff we really have is what is created on our lot and from our roof. Right now drainage isn't a problem. We have discovered some areas that will need drains once we build perimeter walls and a courtyard though.

wessongroup, it's totally dependent on the solar power that Mother Nature provides naturally, so it fluctuates quite a bit, but I don't go in until the water temp gets up to mid-80's. Temps even in the high-70's are just too chilling for this body!

There's a filtration system & I have the pump on a timer, so the water is filtered 2 out of every 24-hours. During the summer, when I'm in & out of it all the time, I also keep the walls & bottom swept & vacuumed several times a week. It depends on how the water looks/feels/smells! There are also chemicals that help keep it in good condition. It's lightly chlorinated year-round & I use algaecide whenever algae develops. There's a lot more debris (leaves, bougainvillea blossoms, dust & empty cement bags from construction on an adjacent property) when it's really windy! Field mice occasionally end up in it, as do beetles, dragonflies, bees, wasps, flies, scorpions, stick bugs & after a heavy rain it's not unusual for me to catch & release frogs & toads.

Having a pool is a lot of work, but for me it's a necessity rather than a luxury because of our summer temps & humidity.

Some folks who don't have their own pools have been rumored to use that really big public one out yonder. You can probably see it from your house...

We had a pool a long time ago.. and our summer temps would run above 110º.. and the wind blew.. did not have the cement bags... but did however have a 2 year old steer from our neighbors fall into one time.. there was just a barbwire fence behind us.. which was the fence of our neighbors.. two women that ran cattle on their land, 2 sections .. the animal somehow got through the fence... was really something.. happened at night.. could not imagine what he heck all the racket was ... till I turned on the lights around the pool.. never thought of taking a picture

Just remembered that we would drain and refill the pool in the summer, as the water temp would just barley cool you off when it got in, when it was running "hot" in the summers..

Still have memories "burned" into my brain about "heat"..

The gals were great, came over and pull it out and then gave us a 1/4 beef for the trouble

Ah, living in the "boonies" what a life.. but, good for you.. saw your construction pictures.. Super job, Margaret Thatcher "I am extraordinarily patient, provided I get my own way in the end." had nothing on you!!

Wessongroup....Thank you...I think! Hmmmmm....that Margaret Thatcher quote does kinda seem to fit on occasion. Building in Baja happens to be one of those occasions!

Ya know, I've never had a cow in my pool, for which I am eternally grateful! Coconuts, coco palm fronds & husks, but never a cow! And I don't feel the slightest bit deprived!

Stub? Dangerous?? Naw, I abhor physical violence....but my words can prove fatal. You might want to be nice to me for a while....I'm working up my ire on a PROFECO complaint against my builder who apparently felt it would be acceptable to abandon his contract with me, so I wouldn't right now if I were you!

BG....yes, I can see it from my casa, but sadly, it involves a mile drive, each way, which takes gas, not to mention I can skinny dip in the privacy of my own pool with absolutely no fear of hearing loud raucous laughter! When planes fly over, I just stand up so they only get a view of the top of my head/shoulders! No planes have gone into the bay on the landing approach so far!

And Kate's right....it's too cold & in case you haven't missed the news flash BG....fish pee out there!

Legs, keenly aware of your ability... think my first post to you was about how you had "gutted" some poor fool in front of God and County!!!

Think the individual left the Country, if memory serves me correctly..

The stub, was old school for "don't messs with that person".. they will make you wish ... well just don't..

As for the former "contractor" .. Well let's just say, hate to see a grown man cry and/or leave town, he might have a family to support...

In LLILP's, aka Margaret's case, that likely gets you send to death row.

BTW, haven't received our pool party invitation yet., but that maybe the Mexican mail.

wessongroup....Oh no! He's not the "former" contractor yet...he may think/hope/pray he's done with me, but I'm not done with him just yet! He'll be receiving his real soon!

GB
....As your Brit buddy might say....By Jove, I think maybe just came on for you as to why you've never received an engraved invitation to a pool party at my place!

Marty....Uhhhhh.....words fail me!:brushteeth: This is one of those times that pic didn't add to the thread!

Ed, you keep keep watching for that burro to come hoofing it down your driveway! Feed him & send him on to BG's casa, por favor!
