So far so good on the new format. Seems easy enough. Thanks, Connie

Glad you like it. Lots more to come in some minor adjustments and features to be added. You will find it to be the very best forum software available today and with more features comes more tweaking.
Please let us know of any bugs / problems you experience or if you just can't find something... |

When I click on the "New posts" button, will I see all new posts in every category or do I go to the category I'm interested in and then click the "New post" button?
I don't think I'm seeing all the categories and maybe I have to change a setting. There are a lot of little symbols and buttons- but I don't want to push em and trigger "an event"! What happens with the button that says something about a "reputation"? |

What is reputation?
Reputation is a way of rating users depending on the quality of their posts. If the administrators have enabled reputation, then the reputation icon will be visible in posts. Reputation may be positive ![]() ![]() ![]() How do I give reputation? To give reputation, click on the reputation icon in the relevant post. This will reveal a form to complete with the reputation type and the reason for giving the reputation. If negative reputation is disabled then it will not be displayed in this form. You may not give reputation for the same post twice. How do I know what reputation I have received? You can view the reputation that you have received in your User CP (User Control Panel) where it is displayed at the bottom of the User CP page. Here you will see the latest reputation that you have received and whether this is positive, negative or neutral. Your total reputation will be shown as series of reputation indicators in your posts and profile. The more positive your reputation, the more positive icons will be shown. The more negative your reputation the more negative icons will be shown. How much reputation is given? What is reputation power? If the administrator has enabled this, the amount of reputation that each user will give (or take away if negative) is shown in the user's posts as 'Reputation Power'. The value of the reputation power is determined by the administrator and may increase over time depending on the settings they have applied. What if I don't want anyone to see my reputation? You can disable the display of your reputation by going to your User CP and selecting Edit Options. On this page you will find a check box labelled 'Show Your Reputation Level'. Un-checking this box will remove the display of your reputation and replace it with the Reputation Disabled icon. You can still give and receive reputation while your reputation display is disabled. |

Reputation is a program in itself. It actually has a pretty in depth algorithm it uses as to who can give reputation, how much and to how many based on posting history. It really is pretty telling and I am still in the setup portion of that module.
As far as "New Posts", it will only show you the posts made today and since you last logged on. Learn to use the Quick Links button menu and you will find your way away in no time... |

So would you say that giving a "+ reputation" is like a pat on the back for an enjoyable post, or would it be more useful to use the Reputation bottom sparingly so that it remains a meaningful tool?
At this point it's so nice to be here on the pleasant forum where the idiots have yet to venture, that I began handing out + Reps sort of willy-nilly. |

As I get it set up I will begin to post some information on how the system works and how we can take advantage of it. It really goes a long way to help our moderators manage the forum and keep this place a useful and enjoyable place to hang out. It has a pretty good method in place to keep "newbies" from coming in and doling out reputation when they haven't contributed and there are other tools in place to keep it from simply becoming a means of "getting even". Once I get the settings done on the module I will tell you more about it.
Have you seen the ignore function on the control panel? I suspect that a few of you have already put it to use - ha! Just so you know, you cannot use the feature on forum moderators or administrators. WE WILL NOT BE IGNORED!!!! :icon_e_wink: |

Hmmm. Maybe I'm just too old. But methinks that there may be a tad bit of overkill here. But then, what do I know. The CIA says they goofed in accumulating data on domestic calls.

It would be nice if all played nice and we didn't need any of these things but the reality is that there are a few out there with way too much time on their hands that seem to delight in wreaking havoc on forums such as this. I refuse to let them take over as they do at times on other boards and this is the best way I know how.
If you know of a better way I am all ears... |

I also like the new format but it does take some time to get used to.
I will withhold judgment on porno dude until he post a photo of himself in a thong. |

Me too. It's hard to throw out the old and bring in the new. I'm still looking for a "todays posts" type of thing. |
