Post Mexico issues travel alert over new Arizona law (AP)

MEXICO CITY – Mexico's government is warning its citizens about travel to Arizona because of a tough new immigration law there.

The travel alert from the Foreign Relations Department urges Mexicans in Arizona to "act with prudence and respect the framework of local laws."

It says that the law's passage shows "an adverse political atmosphere for migrant communities and for all Mexican visitors."

It says that once the law takes effect, foreigners can be detained if they fail to carry immigration documents. While enforcement details are not yet clear, the alert says "it should be assumed that any Mexican citizen could be bothered and questioned for no other reason at any moment."

Funny, travel alerts that you may be questioned... oh, my.....

Now.... how about the travel alerts put up by the State Department on Mexico... are they related to "may be asked to prove" your in Mexico legally?

No, rather .... watch out, you might get "shot"!!!

Good to see we have moved from reality, into the arena of "public perception"..... now anything can morph from this....

As now we once again have Rev. Al Sharpton helping out... of the issue of "racism" as applied to illegal immigration of various peoples into the United States from another Country

My wife's family was divided for many years, until all got across into the United States legally from Tijuana to East Los Angles... guess they were just stupid, as they followed the law

Or, perhaps this issue is to be one like gay's in the military.. don't ask, don't tell on immigration too..

I'm anything but a fan of Sharpton. But the underlying message does ring true. Simply, the new AZ law virtually requires law enforcement to check for proof of legal status should they have reasonable suspicion that a person might be illegal. Just how would one have such a suspicion, except profiling the way people look. Oh. Maybe it could be in the realm of don't ask, don't tell. As if, when an illegal was overheard telling someone that they were illegal.
