This is about a sad event that recently occured.An elderly american neighbor passed last evening of a massive heart attack while at home with his wife of 40 years. The Cruz Roja folks were called and every thing that could be done to save him was.The local police were there to secure the scene while awaiting the coroners people and the neighbors gathered as well. When the coroners office arrived in a very timely manner all were treated with the utmost dignity while they took the required information from the wife, she was repeatedly consoled by them while they made suggestions to not transfer the body just to San Diego, but on to a mortuary closer to the Riverside cemetary for burial. When the time came for him to be removed, they waited patiently giving her plenty of time for a private good-bye from the wife to her husband. I have to say I have never witnessed such proffesionalism from the authorities in the US under the same circumstances, they are always rushed to get to the next one. So kudos to Cruz Roja, the policia, the coroners office and the Dr. As we know it is VERY important to establish a relationship with a Dr. here if nothing else for emergencies and the possible eventual situation that many of us will face living here. So PLEASE use this a a reminder to establish a Dr. relationship.

Another very good reason to have a relationship with a doctor here in Baja. They can sign off on your death certificate and make the entire process MUCH easier.

Also if you are a single person be sure to leave a letter (written in Spanish) with you final instructions for your remains with a trusted friend or neighbor.
