![]() ![]() By Susan Shroder, Union-Tribune Staff Writer Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. SAN DIEGO — Marijuana valued at nearly $340,000 was found in sacks in a truck stopped at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, federal officials said Tuesday. The 1996 Ford Bobtail truck was being driven by a 44-year-old male Mexican citizen, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said. The truck was pulled over for secondary inspection shortly after 1 p.m. Monday. A narcotics-detection dog alerted to the cargo. CBP officers found several large plastic bags hidden among scraps of aluminum cans in the cloth sacks. The bags had 13 bundles of marijuana that weighed about 680 pounds. The driver was arrested. Last week, local CBP officers seized more than 6,400 pounds of marijuana worth more than $3 million in tractor-trailers that were carrying the drug in concrete tables and benches and inside boxes of produce, officials said. I can't help but notice that most of the aluminum cans hiding the pot are Tecate. I am sure there is some connection there - if I could just figure it out. Maybe of they had used Coors Light instead...
