Hi amigos (Baja Talkers),

I am wondering if there are very many here who would actually like to talk about Baja... Baja places, Baja trips, Baja activities, Baja adventures, Baja camping, Baja history, Baja off roading, Baja fun stuff... ???

I am seeing almost nothing but NON-BAJA posts (politics, jokes, mainland Mexico stuff, etc.) and am wondeing if that is really what Talk Baja is about?

Baja is a lot of different things to different people, but it sure has little to do with the Gulf oil spill or a 911 call about a wrong cheeseburger... That is all well and good... on many other forums, but on a BAJA forum?

Would it be more appealing to click on Today's Posts and see Baja stuff... like the way other forums are set up, or is the concensus of most to just keep it fiilled with the daily rag of news, politics, jokes?

What is the purpose of TalkBaja.com? I hope so some can actually 'Talk about Baja'!

Thanks for bringing that up, David. I don't think it's the consensus.

I think we made a boo-boo and allowed everybody(besides the spammers) to see it. The Far Side - Access by Request Only is supposed to be by request only, otherwise nothing in it will appear when you click Today's Posts, which is most of what you're talking about.

About 7 months ago we had to make a small change, and I think that is when we might have erred.

We'll huddle and update shortly.

Does it look any different now???

Hey, David...... Why don't you keep you obsessive-compulsive Baja fantasy to yourself. Some of us feel there's much to life outside of Baja that makes for a good mix when brought together with our South Of The Border experience and we enjoy the combination.

How is it that you live in a foreign country while coming off with your, "Mi Baja....Mi Tierra" crappola? Why don't you move down here, build a permanant tent on Shell Beach and hang a Chamber Of Commerce sign on it?
Geeeezus Creeeeesto....your long distance Baja drum-banging gets tiresome.

I have met David while traveling in Baja.

Don't know if many of you have met him.

David is just so in (love) enthralled with Baja he just can't keep from spreading the word to everybody he meets .

If this bothers you just skip on to the next posting???

I have seen countless stories about the Baja, just maybe not from a view point that some may wish...

I enjoy ALL.... and thought the "sites" title was excellent .....

As in the few times I been out, while in Baja, most talk has centered about issues which are brought up on this board....

Immigration reform, what is going to happen with the tourists coming down, how is American going to get things fixed, things more in a political sense if you will and that is from Mexican people I run into at Auto Body Shops, front end alignment shops, auto repair shops, electronic repair shops, guitar shops, Home Depot and yes even in Calimex..

As for the "gringo"... at a couple of bars I have been too in the almost one year down... Splash, EP and Cantilies .... conversation was more along the lines of "where ya from" "ya know a good place for getting something fixed... are you looking to buy some real estate and who has the best food, ever been to ... oh, and by the way, can I get a jump my battery is dead in my Toyota Tunda

I enjoy a number of boards... but, some are off the far end.. which again is ok.. by me.. say and think what ever you want... I can take it or leave it...

Must say that TalkBaja, is just that talking in the Baja... which is allowed... how ever it is accomplished...

Think a few here have thinking which is more centered on how to "keep" talking while in the Baja, and having a place to live and enough food, given the finncial realities which are staring us in the face at the moment...

Most people in the United States are not really just having a great time.. they are out of work, losing their home, car, saving, and their "life"... and yet still VOTING for the same game...

Trips to the Baja, for the majority of folks is a "dream".... at this time.. and for most for ever... as it is not coming back... the "American Dream" has been taken away by large money

I consider my self lucky ..... kind of .... but, where my wife and I am right now is from saving all our lives, working two jobs in many cases, and doing without .... and living on a small, while all my friends spent on new cars, boats, RV's and really big homes..

You know.... just like our elected Senators from California.. Boxer, Pelosi, and Finestein

I, for one, do NOT understand what is going on. When I read the start of this thread last night, and then checked to read the latest posts to a current thread (one on which I was active), I found that the thread was GONE. (This happened to me once before, with no explanation given.) Then, I checked the list of "today's" threads and saw that only threads directly relevant to Baja remained. I gathered you had acquiesced to David K's request. When I read the additional posts on this thread, today, I get the feeling that you just limited David K's access to irrelevant threads.

There are lots of "inside jokes" on this forum. Usually, I just scratch my head and look forward to the day that I might be one of the insiders. But when entire (current) threads are deleted in mid-stream, it might be nice if an explanation were provided, at least to those who posted on that thread.

God did something happen and I missed it....DANG!

I just went with what I saw... you mean I was off topic .... couldn't be... not me

Inside jokes... or no... I'm always the last to find out... but, then that usually works out ok ... as it has already happened ..... and I just have to deal with it... so, what's new...

IMHO, Dennis is the one making the most sense here!

Whether there was a glitch or not, I feel the need to comment in that the off-topic on this forum is by and large an adult, respectful exchange; something that can't be said in that other place.

Similar to Dennis, I just got the feeling that the post starting this thread was not intended as constructive criticism.

I like it here. There is much less rancor and, it seems, more knowledge from people that actually dwell in baja rather than primarily visitors, although there is nothing wrong from either vantage point.
