Is there anything on that list that you can't get as a local product???

I guess the answer to your question as posed would be no....with qualifiers. My dogs are middle-aged & the vet has prescribed special needs dog food. Mexican produced dog foods are produced in 2 categories....puppy & adult. The only source of specialty food the vet recommended is imported.

And being a guy, you might wanna ask your bride for some input....but those of us of the female-type persuasion really prefer to use something a little softer tan "burlap-grade" TP.

Some of the fresh produce on the list aren't grown here, but I've pretty much evolved to buying what I like when I find it here....if it looks good....regardless of price or source. But, some of the fresh foods on the list are far from fresh & have the texture & appearance of road-kill by the time it makes it's way out for display....that goes a long ways toward curbing my taste buds.

IMO, some products more than others, there's a big difference between availability & quality. Of course, there are a lot of items on the list which don't impact me personally, but somebody somewhere buys those things or they wouldn't be importing them.

My original post was meant to be informative rather than critical.

Lots of "others" in there. I wonder what's up with that? A selection of stuff I have in the house is hecho or fabricado as noted below. Some products that I assumed were imported are actually manufactured here in Mexico, so I'm not tearing up old phone books for the bathroom just yet.

Soy sauce (Kikkoman): USA
Ramen noodle soup (Maruchan): USA
Wine (Fratello): Mexico
Wine (Santa Rita): Chile
Sunflower seeds (David): USA
Dog food (ProPlan): Mexico
Shampoo (Pantene): Mexico
Toothpaste (Colgate): Mexico
Deodorant (Nivea): Germany/Austria
Copy paper (Office Max): Mexico
TP (City Club "Member's Choice"): Mexico

Sorry Legz - wasn't being critical, just curious. We actually get pretty good veggies here as this is an agricultural area. Cristina picks out the TP and I just checked - Hecho en Mexico. My dogs actually prefer the Mexican brand dog food and as long as they are getting lots of exercise and their daily vitamin (Mexico) they seem to thrive.

I guess we are lucky...

Since I'm the only greenie here, I assume you're talking to me...but you post isn't clear to me....you objecting to the fact that all my posts are green? Or something to do with the font size I use?

Oh!!!!! You mean my magnifying glass comment? Pretty hard to use that tactic on a roll of TP! I have the make bigger tactics down pat on my PC!

Objecting is such a harsh term.
How about not one of my favorites?

I would've chosen "Lemon Chiffon" as the color, but that was even more infuriating than just plain yellow. On 2nd thought...

I guess ya can't tell that green IS one of my favorite colors? Much easier to read than your phoophooey Lemon Chiffon color choice. I suppose I should be relieved ya didn't suggest I post in white!

Pssst #2: Ctrl + "a" = highlight everything; an instant defeat to any "hide the text" color scheme.

Pssst, Marty ... got a "find" command for the stuff in my house that isn't on the computer?
Yup, Legz, I did have to break out the magnifying glass to see where the products were made. The shampoo label was a challenge even then!

I guess I'm lucky. The only thing that I ever bring with me to Mexico is coffee and vodka (I'm picky about those two things)...and neither one is on the increased tax list!

I took a peek and didn't see any of my "key ingredients" either...
