The State Civil Protection Director (DEPC) warned of a strong cold front approaching the region and expected to last the next three days. This system could bring heavy rains at times, as well as wind and snow in the mountains.

The agency reported that the Pacific Coast area on Wednesday is expected to be mostly cloudy with a 90 percent chance of rain, cool weather to cold wind with maximum temperatures of 57 F / 14 C. Wednesday night will be partly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain and chilly minimum temperatures of 41F / 5C. Wind speeds are expected in the range of 20 to 35 mph.

In the mountain areas expect isolated areas of dense fog in the morning and the rest of the day mostly cloudy with a 90 percent chance of rain, continued cold weather with strong winds and the maximum temperature of 45F / 7C. Nights will be partly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of rain and cold weather, the minimum temperature hovering at freezing with a west wind 35 to 55 miles per hour and gusts of up to 85 miles per hour.

For Mexicali and the valley, Wednesday is expected to be mostly cloudy with a 30 percent chance of rain, cool weather to cold with strong winds and a maximum temperature of 64F / 18C. Night time forecast to be partly cloudy with 20 percent chance of rain with a minimum temperature of 46F / 8C with west-northwest winds of 27 to 30 miles per hour. Wind gusts can be up to 36 miles per hour.
