Default Gun Used to Kill U.S. Agent Traced Back to Texas

03/01/11— The gun used to kill U.S. agent Jaime Zapata on February 15, 2011, was traced back to Lancaster, Texas on Saturday. The U.S. Agency for the Control of Alcohol, Tobacco, Fire Arms, and Explosives (ATF), traced the gun’s origins by tracking gun sales and conducting intensive surveys in both Mexico and the United States. … Read more

What bothers me is that there are way too many folks, probably fueled by NRA misinformation, that continually try and diffuse the issue of US purchased guns in Mexico. Whether the number of weapons seized from the cartels is 40% from the US or 80% from the US, it begs the issue.

We, as a nation, are assisting, and for profit, the folks who are killing innocents South of the Border. The whole thing about wherever the other sources are, is somewhat of a non-issue.

It just seems to me to be an exercise in futility to constantly harp about the threat of violence SOB, crossing to NOB, when we in effect, condone the sale of assault-type weapons, in bulk, to people who provide them to the criminals that are the cartels.

You cannot have it both ways.

Considering, about 50% of our economy is related to "weapons"... one way or the other.. (defense)... not surprised we would have a lot of this kind of thing laying around for sale... as we do sell them... "weapons"... all around the world ... from pistols to planes....

When I lived in Houston Texas I was involved in building a house for Prince Al Fasil of Saudia. the house next door was occupied by a member of the Brown and Root family He was one of the bigest Arms Dealers in the country, not the kind of Arms you see at the local Gun Shows either. That was the reason they chose that location to build the house was because of the assocation of the Prince and this Brown Person.

And I'll bet the chances are 100% that the monies used to purchase these weapons comes from U.S. drug users.

I see two possibilities:

We're all happy with how things are...

OR

Our law enforcement system cannot accomplish their mission. They've had 50+ years...

Enough excuses, and exhortations that we are "winning."

No. You are not.

I'll get worked up over drug users when hard-core alcoholics step up and show me a year's month's week's long record of abstinence.

Think they could make it a day without a drink?

I could give a shite who's winning or losing. I just want people to play by the rules, whatever they might be. Drugs or alcohol... It don't make no difference... For all I care they can all eat s**t and die.

Looks like neither one of us is happy.

I've no solution, and will try not to further confuse the issue.

Sorry.

Law enforcement can only work within the system, which just so happens to be full of its own contradictions (permitted medical marijuana stores and state iniciatives decriminalizing marijuana). Jail / prison overcrowding allows those who are arrested back out on the street before an officer can even finish writing his report.

There are simply way too many that depend ($$$) on the current system for us to see any real change in either direction of legalization or a strict crack down.

It is easier to just let the war continue on south of the border...
