Default It's that time of year....Hurricane season

Yep! We're in hurricane season & the first storm is forming 425 miles south of Acapulco. This "well-defined low pressure system" went from 10% chance of developing into a tropical storm (or greater) to a 90% chance in roughly 24 hours. I'm not implying the sky is falling or the end is near....simply that it's that time of year & it's good to be keeping an eye on your favorite early warning weather site:

You may get your wish yet, Wooo....it's now officially hit 100% & is now a tropical storm. Have you duct-taped your wind meter down to something solid?

With the wind we've been getting this spring, a hurricane doesn't seem like it would be too much worse. I don't think we have anything to worry about until the water warms up though. It's still down in the upper 50's. Not even the most persistent hurricane could survive over water that cold

Oh hell!! Water temps are ballpark 75-85F along the west coast of mainland & right up into the Sea of Cortez....right to La Paz's front door! It developed fast, but it's not traveling fast....only traveled about 25 miles today.

High water temps is a breeding ground for major storms. Hello Mulege!!

Not that I wish those folks anything but well. But for all those climate change deniers, here you go. Especially those deniers in, say Joplin.
