That's your place Dennis? So where are you hoping to end up?

Don't know. It's just time for a change.
I'll be advertising the website in newspapers from areas that have my interest. We'll see. I'm not suffering here and there's no gun at my head to move.
In the space where the cement mixer sits, I'm now building a room, with full bath, to be used for whatever. More just something to do than anything else. I'm running out of room to expand.

We sound a lot alike. I would shrivel up and die in a day without a list of projects to get me going in the morning...

Dennis,

Nice looking casa! Looks like a women's touch was involved. Nice view...good. Long walk to Sharkey's....bad.

Good luck in selling.

So, my friend, when you mention a trade, just where would you consider? Are you looking to head back NOB?

That asked, just wondering what your price point would be for a direct sale. You mentioned a third less than the "4200 sq ft". casa.

Place looks great. But is lacking a tire stairway!

How much? I really haven't given it much thought since there has been no market although that is rapidly changeing here. All of a sudden there are lots of US people around here looking for rentals and houses to buy.
My idea was to trade it thinking that trying to sell it was a waste of time.
Anyway....I have around 150 in it. That's just material. I don't count my labor and I built it.

I'd take 100, but I sure don't want to give it away and that's getting close. If nothing happens, well....I'll just stay. It isn't torture.

Yeah...NOB, somewhere. I'll figure it out if things start happening.

I'm going to start on a tire stairway first thing in the AM. I actually had one when I had a small place up in Jamul. Built that too.

All right, I admit it; I laughed.

Rammed earth/tire is a pretty interesting construction method though. Can't you just top it with that vapor barrier & wire mesh, and then stucco it?

There are builders using that very method today. Supposed to be extremely well insulated...

It takes a big man to admit that he once lived in Jamul.

We're planning to be down your way the second week of September. May actually be serious. Just really have to see it first hand.

I don't have an appropropriate trade for you since we're in Garden Grove, with a condo that's 2 br and a den. and way underwater. I don't wish my worst enemies on Garden Grove. Or maybe...

Since you didn't do Viet Nam, you won't appreciate the ambience.

So anything we might consider would have to be cash.

I've got your e-mail addy and we can talk more there.

Not to mention that I like my dog and don't want to see her get sucked up in the food chain.

OK.....I'll just keep on building.

Don't worry about LuLu; I know three dogs that would welcome her as a sister. But I don't think Garden Grove is ready for you.

Marty,

Just in case you weren't joking here is a link about the "Earthships" found all over Taos and Northern NM that use just that technique. Would make a lot of sense for Baja where stucco can be supplied economically.

The tire house book - Google Books
