Incommmming September 1, 2011
Well, will ya look at that!!! Sorry my prediction that other storm would be forming came true so soon!! Look at all the rain (white area)....time to be digging out my galoshes thongs!
As of the 5AM update, this is just at the 10% rate, but September is historically THE month for this area....I'm just the kid reporter, please don't shoot the messenger! |

Say ... do they (normally?) form that quickly... one right after the other....
Don't have the experience with these things.. as you guys do...

Re: Incommmming September 1, 2011
Yes & no! IMO, based on my personal experience here since 1999, this may be the quickest replacement I've seen. Because of it's starting location, I'm inclined to believe this could very well be the outermost edges of former EIGHT-E which went ashore in mainland. It might have met conditions conducive to reforming & growing in strength & it jumped at the chance!
I can tell you the only year I've experienced a "two-fer"....where two hurricanes hit La Paz....was Hurricane Ignacio, August 24-25, 2003....followed up by Hurricane Marty September 21-23, 2003. My pic archives cover all the significant storms that effected La Paz since 2001, as follows: Juliette ....... September 27 - 28, 2001 Ignacio ....... August 24-25, 2003 Marty ........... September 21-23, 2003 TS Emila ..... July 25, 2006 John ............. September 1 & 2, 2006 Henriette .... September 4, 2007 Jimena ......... September 2, 2009 By my way of thinking....we're due! If we could pick 'n chose, I'd opt for lots of rain with little winds, but Mother Nature has a bad track record of listening to us mere mortals! |

Based on water temps alone, the Sea of Cortez could act like a magnet to draw this right up the SOC! Only time will tell!

Re: Incommmming September 1, 2011
I'm on a roll!!! I mentioned what was a 10%'er yesterday morning & it's now dumped most of it's rain over the ocean & SW mainland Mexico! And by 5 AM this morning, it's DOUBLED it's ferocity to a whopping 20% chance of developing into a tropical storm!! A mere mention from me jinxed it into doing the opposite of what I expected....no, don't thank me, it's just a public service I perform!
Don't worry....I'm not giving up my day job! |

We kept hoping we'd see some rain here but unfortunately we only got some clouds...
