'K....Marty or BG....your mission....should you decide to accept it....is to give an understandable brief explanation of how the Reputation button is actually programmed to work on the site. I've noticed if someone....we'll call him "Marty"....makes a really good post that I want to give him kudos for, I can do it ONCE & thereafter if I click on the Reputation symbol for "Marty" in an entirely different thread, different topic, different time-frame (months later), a message pops up that says:

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to "Marty" [hypothetically, of course] again."

It doesn't appear to matter that I've rated several other individual's posts between attempts to add to "Marty's" reputation.

According to the Reputation Feature guidelines:

GREEN SQUARE = Positive Reputation
RED SQUARE = Negative Reputation
BLUE SQUARE = Neutral Reputation

And it says restriction is one rating per post is allowed per rater.

If you hover the cursor over the little green square in any individual's User name/avatar section, a pop-up message will appear:

"Marty" is on a distinguished road"

OR

"Marty" is an unknown quantity at this point"

It appears that everyone defaults to the distinguished road rating until & unless many (quantity??) of an individual's posts are given a negative rating....<<< please confirm or deny. But all I could find were green squares with two different drop-down messages.

It appears that the Reputation Feature maybe came with the system software & is either set to a minimal usage setting because possibly BG couldn't totally disable it? <<< please confirm or deny.

If, after rating a "Marty" once, either positively or negatively, is there any point in time when it becomes possible for me to add to "Marty's" reputation for yet another stellar post by "Marty" on a different thread?

What good does it do to have the feature displayed at all with the present 1-use-per-member....apparently into perpetuity....functionality?

And yes, I DID read the information section for Reputation Feature.... I STILL have these questions!

Maybe the foil on my head is wound too tight??

Go ahead & give me 2-word a response like "reputation disabled"....since I can't add to "Marty's" reputation anymore anyway!

Why am I not surprised? I go to all the trouble to provide you with a shipload of detail in my questions & I already improved your reputation....you're gloating over the fact I can't ding you now....I know you are!

Hell, I still can't find it.... but, then ... we all know why...

Wessongroup, look on the column on the left side of any post where it has the username, rank, avatar, join date, etc. At the bottom you'll see a colored dot, a somethingelse (maybe it's a scale?), and a warning sign all in a row. The somethingelse is the reputation-giver, and if you hover your mouse over it, it will show a tip that says "Add to [username's] reputation". Clicking on it gives you options.

Don't feel bad, it took me about 2-1/2 years to notice it!!

Wesson, It looks kinda like a cloud....but it is scales....as in weighing things....or the scales of justice....NOT FISH SCALES!

I'm pretty sure that Marty must still be researching the answers, but I wish he'd hurry up....my holding my breath has turned my cheeks a disturbing shade of BLUE & I'm starting to feel really faint....

On second thought, to make it really easy for you....in light of your temporary physical limitations, we'll make this multiple choice:

• ___ Site Reputation feature is only running at half mast intentionally.
• ___ As site owner, it scares the crap out of me how you guy's use that feature.
• ___ I'm afraid to fully activate/implement it.
• ___ Users might expect me to actually take action on the results, give favorite poster of the month awards, etc.
• ___ I've gotten tight jaws over just the thought!
• ___ I'll fully activate it if Marty will administer it.
• ___ I shoulda totally deactivated that damn feature.
• ___ Marty, fully activate that feature!
