Buenos Dias Amigos and Amigas,

I just joined today. I am looking to research moving to Baja California when I retire next year (2012). I am most interested in the southern part of the peninsula, on the Pacific Coast. I hope to be able to tap into the knowledge acquired by those of you who live there and whose circumstances might be similar to my own: limited but guaranteed income for life, a single male who loves to swim in salt water and eat fresh seafood. I also have a hankering to explore Central and South America on a motorcycle and like the idea of putting the bike on the ferry and crossing over to mainland Mexico now and then. I will begin by reviewing past posts and then perhaps asking a few questions of you all.

Muchos Gracias..

Boborama

Welcome to TalkBaja, Boborama. It's been a bit quiet here the last few days, but ask away. There are a lot of members here who are familiar with BCS and will be glad to answer all your questions.

Welcome. I do not know much about Baja Sur. But when I retire in 16 months I am going to go on a tour of all of Baja. My home is almost complete in Ensenada. I will have many questions also as my time to move gets closer. Enjoy the site. Nice people here with a lot of information also.

Welcome to the board, Boborama!

There are some beautiful areas in Baja Sur. I really like south of La Paz on the Pacific near Todos Santos/Pescadero for surfing in warm, blue water.

There are several members of this forum that reside full time in La Paz. I'm fairly certain that they would welcome the opportunity to answer your questions.

And to second Marty's comment, the Todos Santos area, including nearby Pescadero may just be the best that Baja has to offer given your stated preferences. Sadly, real estate prices escalated there in the past decade or so, making it affordable to the well heeled.only.

Have to admit that I'm somewhat biased in that I could have bought in to the area in the early 90's for a song and turned it down. Sigh!
