AP - The U.S. Border Patrol agent whose death last week sparked a massive manhunt in the United States and Mexico is being buried close to the spot where he was fatally shot in Southern California.

Memorial services for Robert Rosas are scheduled for Friday in El Centro, east of San Diego. The 30-year-old agent and married father of two young children was killed the night of July 23 in a remote mountain region.

Rosas is the first Border Patrol agent to be killed by gunfire since 1998. Mexican authorities have detained five men in connection with the case.

The FBI is offering $100,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone responsible and a $10,000 reward for help recovering the agent's .40-caliber gun.
