Splash Restaurant (Toll road exit after Cantamar at about KM-52)
I've been hearing about SPLASH! for a while now. Alonzo and I were down that way yesterday palm tree shopping, and dropped in for a late lunch for our first time. Easy parking with a guard in the lot. It's a casual sit down atmosphere, but a step up from taco-stand casual. The menu is in english and they only take cash. The menu is kind of lame and limited- but has enough options to find something for everyone. We had fried oysters, onion rings, shrimp and fish tacos and fish cocktails. They were all very good and the sauces are fine. Nothing to rave about from a culinary perspective but much better than we had expected. Those items plus soft drinks was 320 pesos. The staff is very friendly and they play and get along with each other. They love their customers and we were treated great. If was a nice surprise.

That wasn't a Gypsy Jan Review- she is great at it. This was just a "heads-up up, if you're in the area" thing. I think the last time I posted about any Baja restaurant was 3 years ago about the original Tacos El Yaqui. I've had less than average meals at Vincent's and L'Estancia lately. This was a nice surprise. More info on Splash: http://www.splashcantina.com/

Re: Splash Restaurant (Toll road exit after Cantamar at about KM-52)
There was a couple outside with their dog. The lady had her lap-dog in one hand and a pink flyswatter in the other. I don't know how which one she put down to eat.
They had a full water glass on every table and said the flies will drink from that and won't bother the food. That's news to me. When we sat down I though it was just sloppy table maintenance. I actually passed it over to the server for removal- hence the explanation. LOL CT Yankee for sure.

Wow - and I didn't think there was any place to stop to eat past the Halfway House while south before Ensenada. Will definitely give it a try.
They say the flies are worse this year and a product of the crazy weather / tropical storms...
