Default You Guys ROCK!!!

Hola Everyone! First of all I want to send a big thank you for all the information on these boards, it's been sooo helpful in our planning! We've been sifting through posts for a few weeks now! We are native Chula Vistans, I lived there 33 years, born and raised, and the Hubs too, but we have been living in the woods in Washington State, about 2 hours south of the Canadian Border for the last 20 years, growing our own food, and living as self-sustainable as we can. When I was a kid my Dad use to pull our 13 FT Cardinal travel trailer down to Estero beach for the Summers and park it there, we had such good times and I have fond memories! In the 70's the Hubs use to camp alot in San Felipe, and we use to frequent Rosarito and Puerto Nuevo as a young married couple! We have spent the last year extensively researching various places to retire, Panama, Costa Rica, Hualtuco, Belize, etc. and we always kept coming back to Baja! The majority of our family lives in San Diego so it's a good fit for us! And so with our decision made, we are baja bound and coming down there in April or May to check out areas, look at real estate to buy as well as rentals, in various areas around Bahia Asuncion, north and south of there. We are thinking Ensenada and those areas near the border are too many people for us, and too busy, like I said we've been living in the sticks for awhile now and we much more prefer small towns/villages. WOW Ensenada has a Costco now? I was just there 10 years ago, unbelievable! Right now we are busy getting our place up here ready to rent or sell, painting etc. Either way we will be downsizing into a smaller place up here this year. Our motto these days is "simplify"!!! And we sure don't need 5 acres to take care of anymore, it's just the 2 of us these days! There's alot to do to get things ready for this new adventure, feeling a bit overwhelmed, but it's soooo exciting! Retirement isn't for 6 more years (UGH!) but we want to get started on this new journey of ours and will have to split time between Baja and here for now until we can make the move down there fulltime. We are looking for a fixer, and don't mind the hard work that may entail, with of course 2 stipulations it has to be on the beach and we'd like to be near a community as we are community-minded people, and spending time giving in that way is important to us. I grow most of our food, and am looking forward to learning all about organic gardening down there and hooking up with other gardeners! Wow maybe I'll even be able to grow a friggin melon!!! We are also ATV enthusiasts, so finding new places to ride will be fun! Yep, we're trading in our Sorel boots for flip flops! Can't wait! Baja here we come! Thanks again, everyone, we look forward to the Baja vibe!! Sincerely, Baja Luna and Baja Oso!

WOW....gasp.....I'm outa breath after reading your post. Welcome to TalkBaja.
Just don't make any hasty decisions. You have lots of time and thorough research will pay off when you make the big move.

I'm going to show you my site only to give you an idea of how things look around Punta Banda. I'm not trying to suggest a trade as your area wouldn't work fo me.
Anyway, Punta Banda is twenty miles south of Ensenada....it's rural....and it's quiet. Do some research and you might like what you see.

thanks Dennis for sharing the pics of your home with us! A great house with a primo view!!! We'll be coming down in Spring to check out areas, look at houses for sale as well as long-term rentals! And thanks too for the Sage advice! I hear ya about taking things slow, it may take us several trips to get a feel for things there, and before we find the place that resonates with us! Can't wait for Spring and this new journey!

First, Im sorry about your decline in health. Second, your home is awesome! You have alot to be proud of and deserve an equally awesome trade and I hope you get it!
