LA Bay area. Here's a La Bay site with contact info. Maybe ask them:

http://www.bahiadelosangeles.info/

Ask them about other sites for that area as well. Someone down there has your answers.

It is near the opposite side of Baja from Bahia de los Angeles, actually far closer to Guerrero Negro than it is to L.A. Bay (driving distance):

Moved? Not even an inch, I don't think...

I was looking at paved miles (which would be way faster than the slightly shorter distance via San Borja)... and both still longer than driving south to Guerrero Negro for rooms.... I think?

From that article:

The two dirt roads to San Borja are graded and don't require four wheel drive, in dry weather. However, because of a few rough areas, it may be best traveled in an SUV, pickup or van. The north road comes in 22 miles from the paved highway to Bahia de los Angeles at a point 28 miles from Highway 1 and 14 miles from Bahia de los Angeles. The west road is also 22 miles long and reaches Highway 1 at the town of (Nuevo) Rosarito (at the big curve on the highway).

DK - When was the last time you took that road? A good friend who was down there a few months back (late summer) told me they were working on the road to San Borja

Both roads to San Borja/ from San Borja we drove last in July 2009. The West Road was far rougher than the North Road then. In 2003 it was better and fast to Rosarito.
