Default Hola, Buenas Dias

I'm usually never at a loss for words UNTIL it comes to having to do something like this Soooo, here's my story and I'm gonna stick to it.

Native San Diegan (Patrick Henry H.S./SDSU undergrad/UCLA gradschool)

I spent a lot of time in Baja in the early 80s, mostly around Rosarito, Cantamar and Ensenada since I was seriously dating (and almost married) a guy that had a house at Cantamar. That relationship didn't last, but the one with Mexico, thankfully, did.

There was a period where I was migrating up the coast of CA every couple of years and ended up in the Bay Area for 10 years where all things Asian are more common than anything Mexican, except of course, for burritos. But once back in SD, Mexico was back on the radar. I've spend the last 12 years traveling all over Mexico, mostly on the mainland, and started coming back down to Baja in 2009/2010.

Love my home town but retirement in Mexico will probably suit me better than staying local. After 35+ years in the food industry, that light at the end of the employment tunnel, though still a few years away, is starting to get a little bigger day by day Love Oaxaca, love Morelia and Patzcuaro, but having lived my entire live within 20 miles of the Pacific Ocean, Ensenada might be a more realistic solution.

I speak perfect English, good Spanglish and fairly passable Spanish. Need a plate of mole or chiles en nogada, I'm your gal. I make a mean Margarita and even better Manhattan. And after a dozen years traversing the mainland, I've got a house full of beautiful Mexican ceramics, wood carvings and textiles. Doing the elder care thing with my 93 y.o. mother who is still perfectly lucid and very much like the EverReady bunny, though not as mobile. So...right now I'm just waiting to be able to downshift into tiempo Mexicano and see what the next 35+ years brings

Vaya...

Nah.....not me, but now that you mention it, there's some guy named Craig who has run up a huge tab at Anthony's.

Welcome to TalkBaja Ace. If you like San Diego weather then you will probably be best suited for the west coast of Baja as the weather in quite similar. I have been to most of the other places you mentioned and they don't have the mild climate in winter and summer like the Ensenada area does.

Thanks BeachBum

It's not so much the weather as it I think I need a large body of water nearby. In spite of the elevation, Michoacan gets HOT in the spring and COLD in the winter and Oaxaca is sometimes just plain HOT. I also really enjoy Veracruz, but dang, that humidity is just a little too much for this San Diego weather wimp. The only saving grace with the humidity is that I'd probably have great skin and not have to worry about buying Oil of Olay anymore

I can cope with the heat, the cold and even the humidity, but I haven't exactly figure out how to cope without a nearby ocean Lake Patzcuaro and Lake Chapala just don't cut it. Ensenada might just fill the bill a whole lot better!
