Default Ensenada rv parks

My wife & I spent the summer in Ensenada at the Mono Lisa rv park. We enjoyed it a lot. The one problem was the water. In 23 winters in Mexico (mainland) we never tasted water quite that bad. Is it the same through-out Ensenada ? Other rv parks we're looking at on the internet is King's Coronita and Baja Seasons. Any suggestions from anyone ? Please bear in mind that we really had a good time staying at Mono Lisa. But after all these years in Mexico we're sure not afraid of making a change. But we sure enjoyed Mono Lisa ! Also, a total stranger who we met this winter told us that the last few years Ensenada had developed a problem with GANGS. He lives there and was quite convincing. My wife is concerned about the residential area of Chepultepic that we have to go thru daily in & out of Mono Lisa. Thanks for ANY help, suggestions, or ideas. See you in 3 months.

Hey BBB....you arn't supposed to drink the city water untill it's been filtered and bottled. They deliver it off of trucks.
Ensenada has always had gangs. Where don't they?
There are areas outside of town that, when the sun goes down the police won't go in.

KIng's is pretty nice....and the area is civilized, being adjacent to the university, but baja seasons is around 20 miles north of the toll gate. It's on the water and loads up with Snowbirds this time of the year. right down the road is La Salina and they have a pretty active social life for those less than a hundred years old. That would be my choice over baja Seasons.

Out here in Punta Banda we have La Joya beach camp. It's a ghost town for campers this time of year.....windy as well.

Mona Lisa used to be a snakepit. Glad to hear it's again livable. Great bar with a view. Best part about the place.

By the way...welcome to TalkBaja. I see it's your first post. Don't you post over on Nomad? Or is it Fulano's Garbage Pail where I've seen your name?

to the board. Most people drink their water from a 5-gallon jug in Baja no matter how good their tap water smells.

We always use bottled water in Mexico for past 25 years. Infact, we started using it in the states several years ago. My problem at Mono Lisa was I never took a shower in water that was the salty. I think it was actually saltier than the Pacific ! But remember, we enjoyed our summer there in 2007. thanks again

Well...I don't know if Mona Lisa is on city water or pila water. Sounds as though they're using a pila and filling it with bad water.
I never heard complaints of city water being salty.
Stay somewhere else.

Try Estero Beach Resort RV park. I know you can negotiate down their posted rate with cash and about a 3 month stay.

Don't worry about gangs unless you are in one

We stayed at Estero for a month before moving to Mona Lisa. A beautiful facility but we couldn't take the noise. They actually have a motorcycle race track in the park !! And we own two motorcycles, but ours still have the factory exhaust. Probably the noises rv park we've visited in 27 years of full time rving. Most people over 55 will tell you IT PAYS TO WORRY.

Always be aware of your surroundings/situation and always have your exit planned.

I have always wondered why Ensenada doesnt have a quality R.V.Park.
After thinking on it for a while Before I moved here full time Ensenada was never a Destination when we traveled in Baja. When I first Came here there was a 5star Rv Park out at Hussons Lazy Pelican. It was Possibly one of the only R.V.Parks in Baja that had 50amp. service. We.stayed there 3mos. while looking for a house. It was mostly vacant all the time.and the owner scooped it up and said they were going to build a Condo there.
10 years later its still a Vacant lot.

our approach as well. We were able to get out of a nasty armed carjack situation once in TJ because we never ourselves get boxed in. You never know and using your brain doesn't cost anything.

I think what happens down here is that the slower pace and "kicked back" lifestyle can easily lull you into dropping your guard. At least that is what happened to me. I simply got careless...
