Wow! Congratulations, Todd!!! How fantastic for you and for the clients for whom you will be able to provide services.

Now my "bucket list" is looking a bit neglected. One more reason for moving back to the Pacific.

There will always be posters who are rightly sensitive about expat work visas and paperwork. The Mexican locals are hyper-sensitve to ex-pats offering services directly to tourists/friends that compete with what they offer. That is to be expected. Some areas are a tad hostile about it. Just have your paperwork in order, double-check your business plan and literally dive in.

We have a Mexican Corporation, and as Asuncion is in a bio-sphere reserve, we had to get special permits. The permits took some time to get, but we did get them. We are legally allowed to offer these services in Asuncion.

I can believe it was difficult. Was it equally hard to get your work permits?

We are not down in asuncion full time, as we still have children in school. We hired a lawyer and he got us all permits that we needed. All in all I think it took us 2-3 years. I would do it again, as our lawyer was wonderful. We also have a good friend in Asuncion that helped us get all our ducks in a row.

Every time we co diving all permits and certificates are ready for inspection at any time.

Oh.. I am sorry, I thought you were working as diving instructors in Baja, which of course would require work permits through immigration as well as your corporation. Have fun.
