Confused Impounded vehicle between Rosarito Baja Ca and the boarder.

This is a plea for information on how to deal with an impounded Vehicle that was driven to Rosarito Beach Baja California Mexico.
The car was barrowed from a friend and she hasn't seen the car sense. We believe the girl who barrowed the car went to visit her X in Rosarito Beach at least she tried to, anyhow some where between the boarder and Rosarito she said they impound the car but she will not give any information on who what where or why that this happened. to make things worse I found out she doesn't have a valid drivers license and I'm positive she didn't buy Mex. Insurance so she was stopped and they took the car to impound and I don't know where or how she lost it. With that said my question to the forum is how would I find a vehicle impounded between Rosarito Beach and the boarder. I live in Anaheim California so the phone is the only tool I have to find out where I need to go to get the Vehicle Back.
The vehicle owner is Legal and we will purchase insurance before we go down to get it, I just need to know where to go!

Thank You for your Impute of any kind to get her car back for her.

The reality? imho, I don't think you will get very far by phone. Once things get this far (no acceptable bribe so they towed it) it will cost you serious money and you may not get it back at all. It depends on the girl. If she did not have Mexico liability insurance (required) it will be a fine. If it was impounded because she is a Mexican driving a US plated car in Mexico without a US driver's license- the car may be gone for good. The Rosarito impound lot in on the free road just north of Rosarito.

The car is now a Mexican car. Part's car or what have you. Never, ever take ANYTHING into Mexico you cannot walk away from. Do all negotiations from the USA side of the border. Heaven help you if you get into an accident and injure a Mexican National even if it is their fault. Run Forest run!......................apogee

I had my car impounded after it was stolen in Playas several years ago. I was able to locate it by the VIN on a website where it was entered after the car was impounded. A picture of the car was also posted online.

I don't remember the website address but I'm sure one of the local insurance companies would know it since that's their business. My car was an old beater so YMMV.
