We have friends from New York City who are arriving on New Year's Eve. They will be staying at Club Marena. We do not want to go to the airport to pick them up on New Year's Eve, so we are trying to find somebody who provides an airport pickup service. Is there such a thing here? We moved here about three weeks ago from Lake Chapala, so we don't know where to start. There were several people who provided this type of service in the Guadalajara / Lake Chapala area. However, there was no border crossing involved. I'm sure this will make a big difference.
Our friends do not have a SENTRI or Passport Card. We will take them back to the airport when they leave on January 14, so that is not a problem. However, we really do need to find somebody (reliable and honest) who can pick them up at the airport on December 31 (New Year's Eve) and deliver them to Club Marena in Rosarito. I do not have the exact time of their arrival yet, but it will most probably be very late afternoon or early evening. Any suggestions? Thanks! Last edited by LivingNBaja; 10-28-13 at 02:02 PM. As I recall, it's about a $70 taxi fare from the SD airport to the border using regular cab service. Blacklane Limousie Service will drive your friends in a new, Mercedes E class for about $15 more if they want to ride in style and comfort. If they are on a budget they can spend a few bucks on a quick cab ride over to the America Plaza Station which is right across the street from the downtown Amtrak station. From there they can grab one of the trolleys leaving every 15 minutes for the San Ysidro border (<$5 pp). They walk across the border and grab a cab to Club Marena. The only other option is to find a taxi driver from Tijuana that can cross the border to San Diego - not sure if they can legally accpet a fare NOB. I have seen taxis cross northbound - anybody here have a line on one? Other than that your only option that I can think of is to drive up and pick them up yourself...

I'm not sure about their schedule but I think Mexicoach goes to Rosarito from San Ysidro by the las americas mall near the parking lot closest to the freeway. A taxi or the trolley will get them to the border.
Mexicoach Homepage Another possibility might be to take a greyhound bus to Tijuana. From there I believe ABC bus still goes to Rosarito through the bus terminal next to the SY border. |

Why don't they rent a car (California Baja Rent-a-Car) when they get into San Diego & then drive to Rosarito? That way they will have a car to drive around and do what they want while there?

I'm a fan of J.P.'s strategy. I insist upon picking up visitors at SD airport to remove a variable and hassle for their last leg of a long day's travel.
But, it's good to see http://www.cabaja.com/ as an option. I thought Rosarito Beach Hotel once had a bus arrangement from otro lado. Anyone know?
