You'll get some relief once Wooo gets those spines removed! Sit carefully for a while! If it helps salve your wounds at all, your landscaping is looking great! I can tell you've been taking local volunteers into "Protective Custody" in the "Witness Protection Program" like I do!

Cute gato picture Kate. Do yours ever try and climb your cardones or other columnar varieties? We've caught our gatos eyeing ours longingly but because they're on leashes outdoors, we've been able to catch them before they jump up and impale themselves. We haven't been as fast when they suddenly decide to run up a barbwire fence post, but so far no injuries.

Luckily the photo is an illusion LLinLP. I thought it was interesting that Wooo just happened to take a picture at that angle?! And yes, I frequently keep my plant shopping "local", but have been experimenting with yucca and low growing palms.

Had to put cages around the tender plants- lots of liebre(s), or one really hungry one this time of year. Once we get a little rain they seem to leave my stuff alone.

Oladulce, I love your garden! I'm saving that pic to show to my gardener.
My kitties (R.I.P.) never tried to climb the cardons but were always wandering through the spiny plants. No incidents with them, though I've impaled myself plenty of times.

Great photos! Cats do seem to have an innate ability to maneuver around cactus...

I didn't realize that you lost both of your kitties Kate. They were with you a long time. I'm sorry to hear that. Any plans for some new family members?

Sweet,
Sure hope you get all the thorns out.

I love cacti, and cats somehow can live with them without much trouble. Same can't be said for dogs. We have a Lhasa and keep many cacti in pots, just high enough for him not to get his eyes stung.
