BG, same technique & materials used here....I just used the generic name of "plaster" in lieu of finish coat or any other more definitive term.

Lucky your casa is bigger than garage, et al or I'd have had to have a heart-to-heart chat with C....even though that's going to be one damn nice looking man space!!

The rock wall around the property just keeps on growing. It should really look nice once we get the doorway/gate and concrete cap poured...

Thanks for the nice comments.

Today they are finishing up the last adjustments on the rebar - we are going with a double layer format, the same we used on the losa on the back of the house. To accommodate the extra space needed we setup for a 4" pour in lieu of the standard 3½". The advantages to tie the rebar in this format is a much stronger setup and actually allows for the entire losa to "bend" a bit in case of a strong earthquake. If you look closely in the photo you can see slight bends in the runs of rebar that will allow for it to slightly bend and twist if needed. Extra $$$ in rebar and labor but really well worth it.

Tomorrow is the big pour!!!

Long day but really glad we're finished. The guys did a great job, getting it all poured and settled with concrete vibrator in just a hair over 3 hours and 72 bags of cement. I had the grill going and after lunch the maestros went back to work with their floats and got all the levels and drainage just right.

Going to just take a few weeks off the garage now and let the losa cure before we start in on the floors and decks...

Time off? If it's anything like my concrete projects, he'll be up there hosing it off 2-3 times a day during the curing.

Actually I was more concerned about keeping the dogs off the roof. They love to make their "mark", every time we pour concrete...
