Re: BajaGringo Construction Report in San Quintin
I kept looking down for the kiter, until I realized that wasn't a kite.

Hi Ron, please don't go 6 months without a report until you are done! Know that some Baja home projects are NEVER done... always a project to do... Yours? Some say man must always be doing something, because once he stops... he dies.

Re: BajaGringo Construction Report in San Quintin
Looks great. Lots of fun details. I started to build in Loreto. Put some pics in an album called Villa Linda Mar. Don't know how to show it here. Maybe I should start my own construction report,

Re: BajaGringo Construction Report in San Quintin
OK, so finally getting around to upload some photo updates. These are some recent pics of:
1. Rock work around the house 2. Outside patio BBQ area 3. Front flowerbeds 4. Upstairs terrace area I really am glad that I let Chava talk me into using the 18" tile on the terrace instead of the 12". It was a bit more work to install to get all the drainage just perfect but definitely well worth the effort and expense. Current projects under way include finishing up on the exterior rock work, building the back storage room where we will be moving our main house batteries as well as completing an outdoor wood fired oven and fish cleaning bench/sink. As soon as those projects are done they will start in on the garage cabinets and building out my workshop (finally!).

Re: BajaGringo Construction Report in San Quintin
Awesome!!! You're moving right along & it's finally got a finished look....despite how much more you want to get done!! The free-standing & attached planters & stone fascias really finish it off nicely!

Re: BajaGringo Construction Report in San Quintin
It's really looks great Ron. It's been fun to watch it go up section by section. What do you need to build in your soon-to-be workshop that are you waiting on? (or is this the Baja man-cave thing?) Taking your time has really paid off in the details.

Re: BajaGringo Construction Report in San Quintin
Thanks bud. I am waiting to get a couple of pieces of heavy gear for my workshop. All of my woodshop cabinetry will be custom fit to include an eight foot long built in radial saw, concrete base vice grip and still leave lots of room for my table saw and other gear. I love to work with wood and this will come in very, very handy with the finish-work projects ahead.
By the way, that's our (almost) 16 year old Dakota at the bottom of the first pic...

Re: BajaGringo Construction Report in San Quintin
Really nice ... I especially love the rock work. The tiles are perfectly color coordinated with your brown dobie. How did you manage to get such goofy expressions on ALL the dogs?

Re: BajaGringo Construction Report in San Quintin
Mauro, a very good friend who owns a home nearby is doing the rock work. He truly is an artisan and I just let him do his thing - it comes out much better that way than anything I try to design with rock.
The dogs have goofy faces? Probably spending too much time with their goofy owner...

Re: BajaGringo Construction Report in San Quintin
Sometimes it's best to just let a guy who knows what he's doing do the work. It is more fun for me to watch a skilled craftsman work than me agonizing over a mediocre result when I do something myself I'm not great at.

You ruined the ocean view...........
I cant see the ocean now with your house getting near it's completion Ron! I'll have to go with my two story idea behind you
Whoa! Great advances on the place since I was last in here. Love the center piece flowerbed idea....."breaks up" that area nicely. You are living a dream! Say Ron......how many feet off is the water there.......and the second question.....can you/are you installing a pier of some sort? That would be nice. very glad to see that all is very well with you BTW. Regards. Deno

Re: BajaGringo Construction Report in San Quintin
Congrats on your new home. So disappointed that we could not rendezvous during our San Quintin visit.
Got out to Chorera to revisit my memories of my first trip there in 2006. That beach and views are gorgeous. Also got to see Pedregal, where I was seriously considering buying a lot in '06. Met Carmen and Guillermo, our hosts at Hotel Jardines. They also gave us a tour of their new home. Holler if I can be of help in Ensenada. See you soon.

Re: BajaGringo Construction Report in San Quintin
Really sorry we couldn't hook up Dock - I lost a lot of time this past month or so with a bad back and then trying to play catch up has left me precious little time. You came out to La Chorera? Did you pass by the house or abalone project???
