Default Baja Fires

While driving between San Vicente and Colonet I came across one of the wild fires currently burning here in Northern Baja...

It's such a juxtposition to see all the fires burning while so many of our friends, especially in BCS are girding for what right now is a category 4 hurricane. On a slightly different note, there are a number of wild fires burning in California. Having been through so many over the decades, what surprises me is that the current fires are so aggressive, yet humidity levels have been above normal virtually all summer. And, there has not been a wind event, which is usually referred to as Santa Anas.

Thanks for posting the BAJA fire photos BajaGringo.

As you know the smoke in Ensenada is heavy enough to cause eye and nose problems. The town is covered with a light fallout of ash this morning.

At least my neighborhood has ash on the homes and cars.

Driving through it today was tedious but once I was in the middle of it I decided it best to just push ahead and get through it. Was not a fun day...

Wow, some of that ground looks pretty dry. I wonder if the current storms will send some rain as far as northern Baja. We had our second meaningful rainfall of the summer today, and when Jimena arrives, I imagine we'll have more than we can handle. Wish we could send you a little!

The photos show what we already knew. They are producing a lot of smoke.
There must be a lot of mixed green and dry fuel in its path.

Thanks for posting the photos.

I noticed that as well - this isn't just dry grass burning. When I was passing through San Vicente a couple of days before my outside air temp indicator said it was 114 degrees.

When it gets hot enough it all will burn...
