Mision San Borja was founded in 1762 and was a visita before then, following Santa Gertrudis' founding in 1751. The Jesuits had several years to construct their Camino Real in this section. In fact, there were three parallel Camino Reals: The central or 'Sierra Camino Real', the western or 'Pacifico Camino Real' and the eastern or 'Golfo Camino Real'. The Pacifico Camino Real is the least known or written about. We will discuss the better known other two...
