Is this road passable with a 2wd? Map 52 in the Baja Almanac. We will be heading from CSL airport to la Ventana and hoping that we can take this route rather than go all the way to La Paz. From what I hear the coastal route is out of the question all together. Thanks in advance. Tom

I haven't traveled the road myself but there is a new paved highway from north of Cabo on MX1 over to Los Planes and then a short jog north to La Ventana.

No need to travel the coast road (ROUGH!!!!!) or go to La Paz.

(why DID the developers call their project Bahia De Los Suertos instead of Bahia de los Muertos, the actual name of the bay?)

I think it's Bahia de los Sueños- Bay of dreams. More marketable than Bay of the Dead.

The road is fine, the last half is paved it is used everyday by the local 2wd.

Wooo's right, " Sueños"! my bad for not previewing before posting.

They could have named it the same as one of the local hard rock bands. Death Dream. Bay of the Death Dream. Kinda has a ring to it.

The coast road is not for 2wd. I understand their is a fight in Muertos over beach access. The name change was some dirt pimp's idea hoping to bring a little La jolla to BCS. Bad idea!

drove that road with a sedan last year. It's paved all the way. Only a small sign for the turnoff on Hw 1 in San Antonio. It's easy to miss. Good travels!!
