Re: Forum Member Ranks & Insignias
sorry, gang, this is so sad on MY part.....I didn't even know the ranks were missing!
I log on and read posts. I don't pay attention to all that other stuff...........maybe I should ???? I have a "friends request" pending on another forum that I don't even know how to respond to! (and it's NOT facebook) How lame is that?!? Anyway, did someone say there was a tar-and-feathering event happening? Girls night out? Naw, that's too messy for my nicely manicured nails... Could be a new abbreviation...T&F= tar and feather Can we get a GIF for that, ElInvestig8r? (probably already has one LOL )

Re: Forum Member Ranks & Insignias
I'll tell you why I want to make Chief as soon as possible. Onboard ships in the Navy the Chief's Mess has the best food in the world. It is even better than the Officer's Mess. During the Gulf War I was in Al Jubayl in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and was invited to the Chief's Mess on many a ship that docked there. God it was wonderful food!

Re: Forum Member Ranks & Insignias
I think that's a little too busy; I like the first one the best.
There's something amusing about the stoic look on the bearer's faces combined with the "rail" going up and down to indicate marching. I hear you about the Chiefs. Best advice/observation I've heard about them: 1) they actually run the Navy; officers notwithstanding 2) best respect/consult/work primarily with them, or else. |

Chief BajaGringo,
I'm using Chief to address you here, cuz ya know I'm just a lowly deck hand dog. sigh And since you didn't answer my question I'll try asking again in proper format according to my rank. Here goes: SIr, Chief BajaGringo, May I inquire if us lowly deck hand dogs will receive extra credit for content, or will it be like other boards where it doesn't really matter what the content is, but rather the number of posts? Thank you sir, Your loyal but lowly deck hand dog [insert jack russell avatar here] baja brat |

Re: Forum Member Ranks & Insignias
Not sure if "extra credit" is an accurate representation of what this software can do, but I have noticed something that appears to be related.
See that little cloud underneath the username on the left? The Tooltip says "Add to bajabrat's Reputation" when I hover my cursor on it. I'm sure that it is related to the little green square beneath the usernames on a post as well. When I click on that cloud, I get a page that says "What do you think of baja brat's post? I approve I disapprove Your comments on this post:" and a button to click that says "Add To Reputation" I don't know if this affects the Member Rank as you are asking about, but it is a way for other members to give feedback about your contributions. This is some seriously-complicated and capable software, and we have not as yet completely mastered it. If you are interested in learning more about it than we already know, there is a forum for the users. vBulletin Community Forum We're currently using Version 3.8.3 but will at some point go to 4.0, significance of which is that some features change from version to version. I think you need to be a license holder to post there, but I've found tons of useful information just by searching the forums. I'll have a dig and see what else I can learn relating to this, but I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed(though certainly a tool nonetheless. ) |

Re: Forum Member Ranks & Insignias
Marty,
Sorry I didn't see the little cloud, but I'll certainly check out the information you so kindly provided me, and I wouldn't mind purchasing a license, if that's what I need to do. Thanks so much for the information. Now I need to get busy on some research! |

Re: Forum Member Ranks & Insignias
Hey BajaGringo... how about more insignias above the Master Chief level for those who exceed 5000 posts... Warrent Officer insignias and then on to Naval Officers...???
I think I know who would become an Admiral first! |
