El Nido - Rosarito Beach

Cuisine Mexican, Steaks
Hours Daily 8am-11pm
Address Bulevar Benito Juárez 67
Phone 661/612-1430
Prices Main courses $6-$23

One of the first eateries in Rosarito, El Nido remains popular with visitors unimpressed by the flashier, neon-lit joints that pop up to please the college-age set. The setting here is Western frontier, complete with rustic candles and rusting wagon wheels; sit outside in the enclosed patio or opt for the dark, cozy interior warmed by a large fireplace and open grill. The mesquite fire is constantly stoked to prepare the grilled steaks and seafood that are El Nido's specialty; the menu also includes free-range (and superfresh) quail and venison from the owner's ranch in the nearby wine country. Meals are reasonably priced and generous, including hearty bean soup, American-style green salad, baked potatoes, and all the fresh tortillas and zesty salsa you can eat.

I find this place way overpriced. Food was good but they charge way to much for a steak or shrimp.

We used to go there a lot but lately have noticed that the service was not up to par as before. You would think that in these leaner times with fewer customers they would give you BETTER service.

Food was still very good and excellent Cadillac Margaritas!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this part of the family business with locations in San Felipe, Loreto, and La Paz. I know the one in Loreto has been renamed Domingo's Place, but under the same ownership. Unknown to me is if they sold off parts of the business, inasmuch as it didn't seem to make sense to me that their Loreto location should change names, yet keep the same ownership. What I can say about the Loreto location, is that if you find yourself traveling in the summer months, Hacienda Suites is a great place to stay with a pool and excellent air conditioning, and they are right next door to Domingo's place. Great service. Awesome menu.

Went to El Nido a few weeks back and it was busy. (Spring Break) Waited for over half an hour to get seated but still very good food. I also like that they don't cut the alcohol in your drinks like some places. Good bartender!

There is an affiliated steakhouse called Tapanco that has very similar environment with lower local prices. I've driven by a few times in Popotla/ Artist district in south rosarito. Yes, El Nido is way overpriced for what you get. I will let you know next month when I stop by Tapanco and let you know how it compares.
