Welcome to the forum, LK!

What is the door made out of? Metal or???

looks cool- and most all the time you should primer unless the door comes pre-primered. There a different primers for wood and metal.

Thank you for your reply. It's metal and is not pre-primered. The reason I asked for advice is I assumed it needed a coat of primer first but my fabricator said it wasn't necessary. I want it done right. Thanks, LK

What KIND of metal??? Since it's green....are you sure it doesn't have a coat of paint already....unless it's oxidized copper?? It is a cool looking door! You need to use a good quality anti-corrosion base coat to prevent rust & then top it off with at least 2 coats of a good quality oil-base paint for metal.

Where are you located? Does the door face oncoming ocean breeze?

For me, I'm a minimalist ... recommend you leave everything as it is... and just enjoy life.. some tell me I should move to OK or AR I would fit right in ... you know chickens in the front yard.. and you find your car when you mow the yard... some of my neighbords just don't understand the pressure it puts on me to have things as other "normal people do" and I just hate PRESSURE

I like it just the way it is..

Plus, once you paint it.. you will have to paint it again, and again.. and again.. the horror
