Missing La Chorera is on a distinguished road

Default Intro.

Hello everyone, My name is Mario, I live in Monterey Park California, But hope to be building a small home at La Chorrera,(San Quintin) which I was told translates to "the mussel place" It is very nice and clean. A bit under-developed, but I guess that's what makes it so attractive. I am happy to of found this thread, it seems very informative and helpful. And I hope to be doing some of this down there. So God Bless you ALL and thank you for the warm reception. Mario

Hello everyone !!

My name is Carlos Martinez. I am originally from L.A. but now reside in San Ysidro, CA.
My father started taking my brother Mario and myself to San Quintin when we were no taller than the front headlights on his old ford pick up. Now my brother and I take our kids down there. My grandfather was one of the original landowners in what is now the Colonia Lazaro Cardenas. My grandfather was from the state of Michoacan, like the former president Lazaro Cardenas, hence the name Colonia Lazaro Cardenas. My brother and I have San Quintin dust in our veins. I am glad that we found a forum with people who appreciate San Quintin and Baja as much as we do. When you try to describe Baja to people who have never been, they just dont get it. I am glad to be a part of this unique group. These are some of my favorite pics and they include Don Alvaro.

That is one of the things that we all love about San Quintin and more in particular La Chorera. Once you meet someone, You've got a friend for life. "mi casa es su casa"
is a saying that always holds true in San Quintin.

How could one not recognize him LOL. I beleive he was threatening to drink the Tapatio
hot sauce if I didn't run over to Doña Maria's and grab some more "beverages" and cigarettes.

I am so jazzed about this forum. I am sitting here thinking that we really have it going on.
You've got some weekend warriors who make the drive from Southern California once or twice a year, thrash the place with off-road vehicles, and oftentimes leave trash strewn about. Then you've got us regulars and some of you residents. We share a deep passion for Baja and all of it's natural beauty. I remember as a young kid I had never seen so many stars in my life. My father had me lay down on the bed of his old Ford and look up at the night sky. Pretty soon I saw what appeared to be a star slowly moving across the night sky. My dad explained that what I was seeing was a satelite. I was blown away. When I got back to school I told my friends about that but most just laughed. Other times we would actually hunt rabbits, ducks and Canadian Geese. Where some try to consume as much alcohol in a weekend before heading back north, you and I take the time to marvel at the landscape, make new friends, enjoy those tacos in town, or just let the sound of the waves breaking on the clean beach rock you gently to sleep. 'nuff said but you'll be hearing more from me.

It is amazing out here on our little section of the beach. At night the sky seems so full of stars it's almost unreal. We love this location, the people, weather and lifestyle and couldn't imagine living anywhere else on the planet...

In the last picture are my nephews and my daughter in a panga with Don Alvaro's son Wicho. They are headed out to the bay for some very fresh oysters.
