SCT Suspends Aviacsa Air Service

Mexico's Secretary of Communications and Transport (SCT) temporarily suspended operation for 25 planes operated by Aviacsa. These 25 planes represent virtually the entire airline. The Secretary of Communications and Transportation said that is due to irregularities and deficiencies that pose risks to aviation safety.

In a communique, the agency announced via the General Director of Civil Aviation (DGCA), that irregularities were detected that "pose risks to aviation and a danger to the safe transport of people and goods."

The SCT said that this decision was based on a recent safety check of the airline and would grant the airline 60 days to correct the anomalies.

The safety officer in charge said that the determination of the DGCA does not mean the complete suspension of the airline, but as a preventive measure to ensure safety in air transportation.

The airline said it would comply and work with the DGCA to correct the problems found.
