Hey all, thanks for the great site. We, me and my family, are coming down for the first time to the Rosarito area for a month to check it out, driving down from the central coast of California, leaving next Tuesday. We are all really excited to be there for the month. We're also going to check out some RE, see if Baja is a place that we want to retire or semi-retire to. I've been researching and trying to make this trip a reality for about a year and a half.

Are you thinking about full time retirement or just looking for a vacation place? I recommend to everybody that they should rent first, before buying to make sure you find the right place and with no regrets. Hard to know that until you have lived down here for awhile...

And welcome to the forum!

That should almost be made a legal requirement. Especially in the case of folks like our new member, who clearly states it will be a first time experience.

Welcome, and hope your trip is safe and a lot of fun... which I'm sure it will be... enjoy.. just slow down... you don't have to go that fast... those speed signs are in km.. take it easy and enjoy the drive... I do.. much slower than on the freeways up to the north...

Hard transition for me.. putting along at 35 -45 then cross the border and folks are going 80-90 mph... way to fast for me.... nowadays.. maybe when 21 or so... not now...

Again welcome..

I think that is just a sign of growing old(er) Wiley. Over time we figure out there is little sense to be in such a hurry in life. I have noticed in recent years that my driving habits have changed and I do drive much slower than I used to...

Plus I'm really cheap, brought up with this saying " Spend a nickel spend a dime, spending money is a crime" .... so cost of operation and/or cost per mile to operate finally soaked into my brain pan a few years back.. late in life for sure (not that I had not been told repeatedly).... it cost more to go fast.... just does..

That is what is so cool about what you guys are doing with the solar..

It is cost that one "can" manage to some degree ... so why not???

Thanks to all,
I think your right about renting, if this trip goes well then renting will be the next step. I too am getting older and have started slowing down, not letting much stress me out anymore. If someone is in a hurry I just move out of there way and wave as they go by, life's to short to let others affect my day.
Thanks again

Have a nice vacation. Take your time and check out the area as much as possible before making a decision to buy anything. I looked for over a year. There are some super deals now for land and homes. If you need any info on the Rosarito or Ensenada area let me know. I just completed building a home in Ensenada.
Take care ,
Keith
