A popular reality TV show on A&E in the past few years has been the criminal-chasing hit Dog: the Bounty Hunter, but it seems that there could be a rival to the previously unchallenged format soon, coming from south of the border.

Mexican tough guy Alfredo Arenas, who serves as commander of the Baja California region’s ’state police fugitive squad’, is in charge of chasing down American criminals fleeing to the closest nation possible in an attempt to escape the US arm of law. This could define Arenas, aged 50, as a more trans-national version of 57-year-old Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman, and forms the potential premise of an interesting show, which is being pitched with the help of producer Bill Thompson (from E!’s Pretty Wild).

Although it is unknown as to whether or not his task force will be featured as regular ‘characters’, if he does get his own reality show, it seems that Alfredo could display his brutal effective methods to a cable audience, as he once described his approach to interrogation as: “Here, you don’t have the right to remain silent. You only have the right to tell me everything I ask you.”

The rumoured project lead by Arenas and Thompson will be pitched to cable networks in the near future, with a good chance of it being picked up by someone in order to rival the top ’Dog’, who has previously been parodied in many popular animated shows such as The Simpsons, South Park, American Dad!, and Family Guy.

Well, I'll just say.... I like this guys hair a lot better.... not sure what the "Dog" is into with his "Look"... some where between hippie and punk rock...

Still have to wonder how "Dog" was able to extricate himself from that kidnapping charge in Puerto Vallarta.
