Default Costa Baja Resort

http://www.costabajaresort.com/

I just got offered a pretty good rate for a condo at this place in June with a slip for my boat.....my little gregor in June.
I know it is well south of town but have any of you had a look around or stayed here?

Drive by it all the time and have been to couple of the restaurants. It's quite the place! You will also be just a few minutes by boat or car from Balandra which the twins will enjoy.

You still haven't booked??

I've been past on the hwy, but never been on the property....I think they have pretty high-end standards & I hate being turned away at the front gates anywhere!! As far as amenities & beautiful location, I doubt you could do better in the La Paz area....from what the really well-heeled folks tell me! If you can get a comparable rate for a condo there, book it! Just make sure Mrs. Soulpatch understands this will be a vacation & you'll most likely not be living that high on the hog when you move here permanently....i.e., no baiting & switching!!

In all honesty, the only thing negative I've ever heard about Costa Baja was when they first opened....due to the proximity of the PEMEX plant & based on prevailing winds, Costa Baja intermittently got an objectionable amount of smoke & fumes from the plant. I haven't heard anything one way or the other for the past couple years, so I honestly can't say whether PEMEX might have done something to minimize the smoke....or the Costa Baja people simply came to accept it as a trade off for the location.

Maybe Dusty would have some recent input since they've apparently made it past the front gates to eat there.

Pretty nice being in the driver's seat for negotiating published vacation rental rates down in the present economy, huh?

Well, the negotiating is better than the past and a few amenities seem to be thrown into the mix....
decision time soon.

As long as you have options, no need to rush it if there is still room to negotiate.

I've only driven by Costa Baja but... to me, yuk. Possibly a feng shui thing where it just didn't feel "right" combined with the fact that I find most resort type places depressing, but it wouldn't do anything for me and being out there wouldn't give me a feeling for what it's like to live in La Paz.

If you're thinking of more of a vacation experience now, you can do better than this. If you're still looking for the La Paz experience, I'm not sure you'd get a good feel for it there.
Kinda like you think you want to move to Hanalei and you go visit Waikiki (ok, not quite- actually Waikiki is nicer! ja ja)

What do you La Pazy people think?

Kate kindly corrected me a while back and the area out towards the beaches is considered "North" of town. BigWooo has drawn me diagrams and schematics and I get what they're saying but if you drive in on the highway from the North and pass through the city, you're now going South, right? Apparently that's not the case

I decided to give in and go with what the locals do or I may never get the hang of La Paz, but I forgot to ask what direction they would say Centenario is compared to the city- west?

Ola, I agree totally with you!!! Costa Baja would be more of a vacation kinda place as opposed to a getting a feel for the real flavor of living life in La Paz.

The curve of the bay of La Paz & the fact that the hwy follows the curve is very disorienting....even for those not directionally challenged like I am! I have a Family Circus cartoon of a little kid with wind-miling arms on my cork board that says "North is up, south is down, east & west are straight sideways" & that pretty much summarizes my sense of direction! USA is North, Cabo is South. Going into town from Centenario, I believe you just might hit all 4 compass points at one place or other!

I agree on the whole resort thing and the other place looks nice and is less expensive for 2 days longer and has a washer and dryer.
Plus, here is the biggy, my wife has no desire to be proximal to a power plant.

Patch... this is almost like having a baby...

Hope you and Bass hook up... as his move was a lot of fun in watching over a year or so of time... with a happy ending...

With ya on this, and wishing all the best... to you and yours...

EMR is one external stimuli some don't concern themselves with.. which is not bad if you believe some on its long term effects .... as "reported" by the "power" companies...

It is an "environmental" concern one may wish to consider... or not...

NOPE!! You really need to see it on Google Earth or a map (with highways turned on). Going around the bay totally changes your direction.

SSW as the crow flies.

If you bypass La Paz at the Whale's Tail, you head more or less southwest, then west before heading south.
