Don't feel bad, David.

A good friend of mine pulled that same maneuver, but in the shorebreak at Abreojos. Stuck in sand in a 2WD with the tide coming up.

I had hooked up with a winch on my Jeep to pull him out, and couldn't believe how difficult it was. Drug him all the way up out of disaster with a huge trench left in the sand.

We smell his burnt clutch and he exclaims "Oh shit; I left the parking brake on!"

Minor inquiry for him: Why. The. HELL! did you set it when you were already stuck good?
